Hiya! Another month has come and gone, and with that I've acquired some new favourites and obsessions, as well as rediscovering old ones. I'm not one to be trying new items all the time, but when I do, I've usually found something that I love, and May was no different. May was a month of make up, music and books, with some of these becoming obsessions that have taken over my life! DB Cosmetics Pore Minimising Primer Way back in April I jumped on the silicon beauty blender trend a picked up one from Korah Beauty. I'm yet to give it a proper test, but the few times that I've played around with it, I've noticed that my pores really stand out - not what you want at all! So I picked up a primer from Designer Brands, which is a brand that I really love, and this primer is really great. I've been using the primer throughout the month and I'm really happy with the results, to the point where, on a few occasions, I've just worn the primer without foundation. Plus, it's relatively inexpensive, which is great for my bank account. It's definitely a product I'm going to keep using, although I'm not ruling out trying other pore minimising primers. DB Cosmetics Absolute Lash Length & Volume Mascara I usually stick with a mascara until the tube runs out, and then I'll try something new, or just get the same one again. But during May I decided to try out this one from Designer Brands as it was a free gift with my recent order. And I'm so glad that I chose it, because I've been wearing it all month. Even though this is a lengthening and volumising mascara, I've found it to give a very natural look. It's also been really great to quickly put on before I film videos, there's no fallout and it's surprisingly easy to remove (mascara is always tricky to get off at the end of the day for me). Every Single Night by Computer Games The music video for Darren and Chuck Criss' Every Single Night dropped during May and it was FANTASTIC! The song itself is so fun, upbeat and you can't help but want to jump around and dance. The music video is all that and more and I would have loved to have been onset while they were filming it. I was getting major 'The Wiggles' vibes from the video with all of Darren's turtle neck changes, and it was very much a game of 'Spot the StaKid'. I've had the song on repeat, and watched the video way more times than I usually watch music videos. It's such a fun son that everyone needs to listen to and watch ASAP! Team StarKid May saw my rediscovery and re-obsessing with Team StarKid. I've been a fan of the team since 2010, having watched most of their shows multiple times, and listened to their songs non-stop. For some reason, I had the sudden urge near the beginning of May to rewatch A Very Potter Musical, and despite all the things I needed to do, I succumbed to that urge, which resulted in me rewatching and watching every single one of their musicals. Over the course of a week (or maybe less), I watched all ten of their musicals, finally watching their three most recent shows for the first time. Talk about a magically musical journey! At the same time, I've also had a StarKid playlist on repeat for the past three weeks, particularly songs from The Trail To Oregon, my favourite production. Write Away Pens I LOVE stationary. So when I saw these pens on Typo, I just had to get them, naturally. I didn't need new pens, but I couldn't not get these. If I'm being honest, the only reason I got them was because they look amazing, but it turns out they are also really great to write with! While I don't do journalling, I think these pens would be perfect for those who do. I've been loving the feel of the pens, and how awesome my writing looks with them. Plus, they looks super fancy on my desk with their marble look. A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas You've probably seen Sarah J. Maas talked about quiet a lot during May, with her new book A Court Of Wings and Ruin having been released at the beginning of the month. With all this hype, I just had to dive into this series, so over the course of eleven days, I binge read A Court Of Thorns and Roses, A Court Of Mist and Fury, and obviously A Court Of Wings and Ruin. And it was honestly the best eleven days I've ever spent reading! The series is a fantastic new adult fantasy about fae, with a swoon-worthy romance and all set in an epic world. My favrouite in the trilogy is the second book, with the third a close second. I love this series so much, to the point where I'm really tempted to reread the second and third books. I'm really excited to see what Sarah does with the rest of the series. Feysand for life! |
