Hello Everyone! Sorry I've been absent on the blog front for the past few weeks, but I'm back this week! We are now six episodes into The CW's Dynasty, and with the show taking a break this week, it's the perfect time to catch up on all the drama of the Carrington family. Here's seven reasons why you should be tuning into the show every week! In case you missed it, Dynasty is a reboot of the 1980s soap of the same name. I've never seen an episode of the original, but I can tell you now that this version is so much better. From what I do know, there have been a few character alterations - Steven is out as gay from the beginning and Sammy Jo is now a gay male, rather than a female. And I've also seen that the women in this version of the show are represented as a very powerful characters compared to the original. All I do know for sure is that it's a show you should definitely watch and get immersed in! 1. There's two awesome Aussie actors in leading roles As an Aussie, it's always great to find Australian actors in some great TV series. Alan Dale (okay, so he's actually Kiwi born, but we've pretty much claimed him too), who is honestly amazing in everything, plays the witty puppet master Joseph Anders, the Carrington's majordomo. My favourite part about his character is that's he still retains some of his accent. I don't know if this is a character thing, or if Alan is just slipping his Aussie accent into some of the lines, but it fits his character so well. James MacKay, who I honestly didn't know was Australian until I looked into who all the actors were after the first episode, is also smashing it on the show in the name of Australia. It always blows my mind when you hear an actor mask their accent, and I honestly didn't believe he was Australian until I watch a behind-the-scenes video. Playing the eldest Carrington, Steven, he's a good balance to his father Blake and sister Fallon, often way more down-to-earth about things, wanting to give back rather than take away. 2. Anders & Sammy Jo's bromance is everything Anders by himself is amazing and Sammy Jo by himself is amazing, but when combined, these two have an awesome bromance. The characters are very different and yet so similar and they play of each other so well. Their scenes are always hilarious and I'd honestly love to see an episode just focusing on them. I could watch their banter all day! It's like The Odd Couple, only better. I can only imagine what Alan and Rafael are like filming those scenes. 3. Fallon's sass & quick wit Fallon is definitely one of my favourite characters (after Anders & Sammy, of course), and it's all because of her quick wit and sass. Every second line from Fallon is hilarious and a great retort to whatever another character has said. She's especially great in scenes with Blake, Anders, Steven and Cristal, which is usually every other scene. She comes across as a bit of a bitch, but there's definitely a lot behind the sassy facade that we are slowly getting to see. 4. You can't help but ship Steven & Sammy Jo From their very first scene together, I shipped these two instantly! They've got great chemistry and their scenes are always awesome and hilarious. Okay, so they aren't official, but I'm holding out hope that they'll get their act together and becoming a thing real soon. 5. The Carrington's are full of secrets & drama There's so many skeletons in the Carrington family closet, and we've only just scratched the surface. Everyone is hiding something, and we've only seen a little of what everyone has to hide. And just when you think there couldn't be anymore secrets in the Carrington Manor, someone else lets one slip! This only adds to the already intense drama between everyone, which started before we knew there was so many secrets. Honestly, it is a bit hard to keep up with what everyone's hiding and who has beef with who, but that's what makes the show so good! 6. There's been a murder mystery and a sex tape leaked already The first episode ended with a character being killed off in a suspected murder, which still hasn't really been solved, and we've had another character involved in a sex tape scandal - and we're only six episodes in! Who knows what else the writers have planned for these characters after these two important plot points. There's already been a pregnancy announcement and the revelation that someone is messing with a character's medication - all in one episode! Who knew the lives of the rich and famous were so dramatic! 7. The main characters are awesome Love them or hate them, the main characters are all awesome. All the actors have really bought these characters to life, showing us their good and bad sides, making us fall in love with them or dislike them. All the different character dynamics are so fun to watch play out, especially how they all play off each other so well. It's only been six episodes, but I couldn't imagine any other actors playing these roles. Plus, it's such a diverse cast, which you don't always seen when it comes to your main ensemble. If you're looking for a great drama, Dynasty is definitely a show you need to watch. It's Gossip Girl meets The O.C. and is perfect for anyone looking for a soap opera drama to tune into every week. American viewers can watch it on The CW, while international fans can find the show on Netflix every week!
I've actually been uploading episode talk videos on my channel every week (also for Riverdale as well), so definitely check them out below if you want to know more about my thoughts about each episode so far. This show just keeps getting better and better every week, and is one you should jump on board with now and catch up with. See You Soon! Victoria :) |
