Happy June Everyone! Welcome to my first favourites post of the year, six months in... In fairness, between being super busy during the Summer and not trying many new things, and good ol' Rona also meaning I'm not trying or doing too many new things, I hadn't really felt like doing a favourites post. But after taking a moment to sit and think about what I've been using over the past three months, I realised I did in fact have a good number of items to share with you all. Plus, I really enjoy looking back on my previous favourites and didn't want to just not do them this year, even if the year is a little wacky! I think this is the first time I've not had a beauty item in a favourites? Since I'm not using many new products (which I hope to rectify over Winter), the only products left to talk about are the ones that I've previously put on a favourites list. So let's dive into what I've been loving over the last three months! During a time that has been kind of sucky, there was a shining light in the form of Cadbury's Dairy Milk Marble Chocolate making it's long over due return! I honestly don't know why Cadbury decided to discontinue this AMAZING chocolate, but I'm so glad they eventually saw the error in their ways. Marble chocolate was my go-to, all-time favourite chocolate, so I was a little worried it wouldn't be as good as I remember. But it was an I'm loving having it back in my life. It's probably not the best that it's super easy to eat a whole block, but the chocolate hazelnut praline goodness is too hard to deny! If you've not eaten the chocolate since it was discontinued or you've never tried it, you NEED to hunt down a block ASAP! I swear I've mentioned these in a favourites before?? Either way, they deserve to be mentioned here! I've had a pair of Blue Light Glasses for about a year now I guess, but it's only been over the last few months that I've worn them almost religiously. Like, it's to the point where I'll just wear them around the house, even if I'm not on my laptop or phone that much, and my mum has suggested I get a nice pair of clear lens glasses for fashion, and I'm so for that. In terms of the actual glasses, I've definitely noticed an improvement since wearing them on a regular basis - I'm not getting headaches as often, and I do think there's been an improvement in my quality of sleep (although it's a bit hard to tell when I'm regularly reading into the early hours of the morning). Whether they actually work or it's just a placebo, I don't know, but I'm loving them nonetheless! Like a lot of people, I've taken advantage of the sudden increase of free time thanks to the pandemic to do some Spring Cleaning! I still live at home, so I managed to rope my mum into finally tackling the cupboards we've put off for the longest time, which was easy given our weekends were suddenly free. And let me tell you, some of the cupboard, or shelves anyway, haven't really been touched since we moved in 24 years ago. And I was a harsh cleaner - I wanted to throw out/donate so much stuff that we don't use anymore, and I managed to get my way for the most part. There's only a few locations left to clean, and I'm determined to get them done before weekend events become a thing again! One a little out there is my Stamp Collection! So my mum collects stamps, and way back in the day, she bought me my own book to start collecting. We both kind of fell behind, and as I've gotten olden, I've not really been that invested in collecting to be honest Plus, my mum and I decided that it was silly for both of us to be collecting when I'd just end up with her collection anyway. So instead, I've turned my collection into stamps that I really like - predominantly really old stamps, Aussie icons and history, with a side of interesting looking stamps - plus some fun international stamps, like the Arabic stamps of the English monarchs! It's such a random collection, but I kind of love it - I definitely need to do a flip-through video so you can all see! One of my faves, Jesse McCartney, released two new singles over the past three months ahead of his upcoming album, and both have been instant faves! The first, Yours, is a nice bop, and the music video serves us some iconic mid-2000s Jesse style. Friends is also a bop, a great summer party song, and instantly makes me think of my friends. I'm super excited to see what song Jesse releases next, and his new album as a whole, whenever it comes out. While this isn't technically music, this is the most logical category for a podcast. I love a good podcast, and although I don't listen to as many as I would like (I'm kind of picky), I instantly fell in love with Em Rusciano's Emsolation! I've been following Em on and off since she was on Australian Idol in 2004, and really enjoyed tuning into her when she had her radio show (okay, I mainly listened to the catch-up podcast, but that's not the point). It's been a few years since Em stepped away from radio, so it's been SO great to have her back in my earbuds twice a week, talking about anything and everything for 40 minutes! Thanks to catching up with my friends back in January, I've been OBSESSED with playing Covet Fashion again! I played this game back in like 2016 and stopped playing after a while, but my friends had only just gotten into the game late last year and wanted me to play so they'd have more friends to borrow items from. So now it's become part of my daily routine! And every other day in our group chat has us sharing looks to get ideas for, so we're truly keep the group chat alive here - literally our friendship revolves around memes and Covet at this point. Finally is a favourite that probably more-so belongs in my Winter favourites, but I started watching this on the last day of May, so it's going here goddammit! And that's Buzzfeed Unsolved! Somehow, I'd never watched this series until now, which is super weird because it's totally right up my alley and I've watched nearly all the videos, particularly the supernatural ones, more than once. Ryan and Shane have such a great dynamic and are part of the reason why the series is so good to watch and rewatch. I'm now in need of some more true crime and supernatural documentaries and podcasts, so please send me some suggestions! Looking at the completed list, this definitely a bit of a weird collection of favourites, but that's what a pandemic and social isolation will do to you I guess! Bring on Winter and slowly getting back to normal and getting back to trying new things!
