AUTHOR: Rebecca Jenshak GENRE: NA Sports Romance PAGES: 249 RELEASED: 13 July 2021 SERIES: Campus Nights #3 SYNOPSIS: She’s a figure skater. He’s a hockey player. Things are about to heat up on the ice. Rhett Rauthruss is single for the first time in six years. He’s fresh off a long-term, long-distance relationship and ready to make the most of what’s left of college. Party with his boys, get to the Frozen Four with his team, and maybe play the field for a change. Sienna Hale knows a thing or two about heartbreak. She’s a college athlete about to skate for the last time, and nothing is going to throw her off course. Not her worries about finding a job after college, not the whispers of last year’s accident on the ice, and not the cute hockey player who keeps asking her out. They think they want different things, but when it heats up between them, there's no denying they have something in common--even if it's just for a night. This book was kindly sent to by Valentine’s PR in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Two broken hearts who live for the ice are certainly heating things up in this college sports romance.
After breaking up with his long-distance girlfriend of six years, Rhett is finally single in college. He’s watched his friends and teammates hooking-up for the past four years, so now it’s his turn to have some fun. Only, he has no idea how to flirt, and when he does get a girl back to his bed, he falls asleep while she’s going down on him. To make the day worse, he nearly takes out a figure skater while trying to clear his head out on the ice. Sporting matching black eyes, Rhett wants to take Sienna out to make up for almost knocking her out, and although she’s reluctant at first, she knows she’d be stupid for turning down such an offer from one of the hottest guys on the hockey team. But she knows how the hockey players work – she’s heard the stories about all the hook-ups they’ve had, and she naturally assumes Rhett is the same. Her body wants him, but her heart isn’t about to suffer the consequences of getting into bed with him. Rhett has been an intriguing character throughout the previous two books, so I was really excited to see that he was the next lead in the series. And because he had just broken up with his girlfriend in the previous book, there was no indication about where his story would go, and who his new girl would be. Sienna, being a new introduction to the world, was really refreshing, particularly because of her sports background as well. Like I’ve said about all the previous Valley U books, and in particular the Campus Nights books, I really love the friendship group that Rebecca has written, and how easy the writing makes it to feel like you’re part of the gang. These 100% feel like people I want to hang out with and be friends with, and while I’m obviously reading these books for the romance, I would totally be cool with just following their friendship and all the shenanigans they get up to. Like, can I please play sardines on campus with them? Sports romance is probably my favourite type of romance read, and so I really enjoyed that Sienna was also a sporty character, and that Rebecca delved a little bit into the world of figure skating! Being able to explore different sporting fields within the one world has been so fun, so I’m really glad that Rebecca has chosen to expand the Valley U world the way she has, rather than releasing a bunch of books that aren’t connected. I still get a kick out of visiting the White House, which we first saw in the Dirty Jocks series... It’s a bit of a wait for book four, which I’m SO excited for, so now is the perfect time to catch up on all the hockey team drama AND all the earlier drama with the basketball team and some baseball players and golfers. The Valley U world is a fun one to be in, especially if you’re a sucker for college sports romances like myself! |
