Why Hello There! It's no secret that I LOVE ColourPop products! My #1 palette is the Yes, Please! palette, and I own more matte liquid lipsticks that I really need - especially since they are all basically the same shade. So, when ColourPop released their No Filter foundations, and the rest of the No Filter range, I knew I had to get my hands on it. All the ColourPop products I've used so far have been amazing, so I had high hopes that the foundation, concealer and setting powder were going to be just as good. On Friday, I finally had a chance to sit down and use the products, even filming a first impressions video, and my expectations were totally exceeded! Before even placing the order, ColourPop has you're back when it comes to not only selecting which shade of foundation to get, but also the complimenting products from the collection. Picking a foundation shade blindly is, honestly, a silly thing to do and I applaud those who can just randomly pick a shade, hope for the best, and then actually get something that suits them. For people like me who have no idea where to start, ColourPop has been good enough to help with the process - by getting you to input a foundation and shade that you know works for you, then they spit out a No Filter one that should work. Now, I've never had a foundation that 100% suits me - probably not even 80% suits me - but my current foundation, Maybelline's Fit Me, is a pretty close match, even though I think I'm a shade lighter than I'm currently using. So I put that one in and I was suggested Light 60. I hoped for the best and added it to my cart - who was I to try and choose differently when I had no idea what I was doing? With my foundation picked, ColourPop then suggested the concealer, setting powder and pressed powder that best go with my shade. For concealer, it was Light 12, and I was again not going to question it. Thankfully, the setting powder suggestion was translucent because I was going to pick that anyway, regardless of what ColourPop were going to tell me (although I've since noticed they only have three shades - translucent, banana and dark translucent), and I wasn't planning on getting a pressed powder, so I disregarded that suggestion altogether. I hadn't really been paying attention to reviews on any of these products, only the little quotes that ColourPop share on their social media about the foundation. So I was really going in blind and hoping that the quality of these Complexion products were on par with the eye shadow and matte lips that I've been obsessed with for so long. And not just that, I was hoping that the shades would be the right ones - I was going to be so annoyed if the product was amazing but the colour was so off! As soon as I unboxed the foundation, I was hopeful that it was at least going to look passable - even if it was a tad lighter or darker than my skin tone, it wouldn't look ridiculous. I was first surprised by how runny the foundation was as I was expecting it to be a bit more creamy. Nevertheless, it applied really well with my beauty blender, giving really great coverage with the two pumps I used. And colourwise? It is actually pretty damn near perfect! It's probably a tad peachy for me, but it's not even that noticeable. For the several foundations that I've used and tried, this one is definitely the closest to being my skin tone. I wouldn't even bother trying the next lightest shade, because let's face it, that would end up being too light (ha). As this foundation is matte, it drys down, which is something I've not had in a foundation for a while. I usually have to apply powder to the entirety of my face to make sure my foundation stays in place, but I didn't really feel the need to do that. I still applied it to most of my face, but I just brushed the smallest amount on the areas where I didn't apply concealer. And I actually really like that it's nice and mattifying. As someone with combination to oily skin, I've always got my eye out for a good matte foundation that'll actually last the entire day without running off my face two hours after it's applied. Onto the concealer, which I was very curious about - was it actually going to go with the foundation? And the answer is yes! Although the concealer looked like it may be too light when held up next to the foundation bottle, it actually matched really perfectly! Which, I suppose it's meant to given it was the one I was suggested. The formulation is also really nice - it's super creamy and blends out really well. Again, it's a matte concealer, so it drys down, which I've not experienced with a concealer - most have been dewy. I'm interested to see how this concealer works with other foundations, and even how other concealers work with the foundation. Obviously, they're formulated to work really well when used together. The foundation already had great coverage, so I didn't feel the need to conceal too much - a little under my eyes was really all I needed, although I did try a bit out over a few small spots, and down my nose. I couldn't really tell how well covered my spots were, not that I really needed to cover them anyway, but I could see a bit of difference under my eyes. Finally the setting powder. Even though the foundation and concealer are matte, I still felt the need to set them down more, especially in the areas I did conceal, and because I know they won't stay matte long given my combination skin. Because I use more dewy foundation and concealer, I'm usually quite liberal with the setting powder, but I didn't feel the need to do that with these products. I focused mainly on the areas I used concealer, sweeping a bit of powder over the rest of my face, as I said earlier. I can't really say too much about the powder - it's translucent and did it's job, so A+! Honestly, the only downside to the powder was that my brush was too big for the pot, so it was a little messy - #firstworldproblems. OVERALL, I really can't fault the No Filter collection! Obviously, I didn't try the pressed powder, but if it's anything like the rest of the collection, it's going to be really good. I was so happy with the look I created using the collection and a few other ColourPop products and I can honestly say the foundation is probably one of the best foundations I've ever used. It's so lightweight but with good coverage and it suits my skin tone so well. Given that I was worried these shades were going to be wrong, I'm so glad they ended up suiting me almost perfectly. I'm seriously considering making the foundation and concealer, and probably the setting powder, my everyday staples. If ColourPop just brings out a mascara then you'll be able to do a full-face of their products, and I'm honestly ready for that. Every single product that I've tried has been fantastic, and after the success of these complexion products, I'm confident that everything I add to my collection from this point onward will be 100% amazing. If you've been eyeing off any of these complexion products, particularly the foundation, I highly recommend giving into temptation and buying it. I have no doubt that you won't regret the decision. And if, for some crazy reason, you've yet to try any ColourPop product, get shopping! I cannot recommend the brand more highly, especially if you are after affordable, high quality, pigmented and blendable products that'll make you look like an absolutely boss. See You Soon!
