Happy New Year Everybody! It's hard to believe that it's official 2020! Twenty-twenty. 2 0 2 0. Two thousand and twenty. After what felt like a slow start, the rest of the year seem to fly by, and I swear we skipped over a few months there at some point. It's actually scary how quickly time seems to be rushing by, and I'm sure it won't be long before I'm sitting down and writing this same post in a years time. BUT anyway, today, before we fully dive into 2020, I thought I'd go back and share my favourite favourites for 2019. Let's do this! The makeup product of 2019 is definitely the ColourPop No Filter Stix Foundation. This has been my go-to, everyday foundation since I started using it just after it's release. It's such a fantastic light-weight by mid-to-full coverage foundation that has been perfect for casual, everyday looks and for more glam and formal looks. It's a foundation I'm always sure to be stocked up on because I don't want to be caught short and have to wait on shipping from the US! My skincare product of 2019 has got to be the Revolution Skincare Blemish & Pore Refining Serum - 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc. My skin has absolutely loved this product and I've definitely noticed a huge difference when it comes to my breakouts - sure, I'm still getting minor breakouts here and there (mainly hormonal), but they aren't as severe as they have been and they don't last as long. I'm scared to stop using this because the few occasions I've stopped using it for a week or two, my skin has decided to have an acne party, which isn't fun at all. I didn't have many fashion favourites this year, which made choosing the Rivers Chelsea Boots pretty easy. Most of my shoes are Rivers brand as they are super comfy and affordable, as well as having a good range of shoes where it's easy to find a size 10+. These boots are super comfortable and have become my everyday casual boots. My winter look literally consisted of a knitted jumper, jeans and these boots. My film & TV favourite technically isn't either of those, but there's nowhere to really put it, and it's close enough to a film to be included here. Back in July, my friends and I went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne and it was a phenomenally magical experience. I'll admit, like many people, I'm not a fan of the story Rowling was telling here, and it certainly feels more like fan fiction than canon, but the theatre experience definitely outweighs the issues. You literally watch magic unfold before you and I can't wait to see the performance again in April! There weren't too many miscellaneous favourites in 2019, but the one that has certainly been my absolute favourite has been my Typo Metal Drink Bottle. It's super important to be using reusable drink bottles instead of throwaways, and while I've been using reusable bottles for years now, I've always had my eye on a metal drink bottle. Apart from looking super pretty with a marble design, it's amazing how cold it keeps drinks, which is a must-have for Summer. Hello keeping hydrated! I well and truly fell down the Hamilton wormhole in 2019 and have had the cast recording on repeat almost non-stop, like, it's actually a borderline problem how much I've been listening to this. I make no apologies though because I absolutely LOVE this musical. It's also helped me get into other musicals throughout the year and I've gradually fallen down the broadway/theatre rabbit hole. I 100% guarantee I'll be listening to this album for the foreseeable future, and I can't wait for Hamilton to come to Australia in 2021! The Sims is probably one of my favourite games of all-time and in 2019 I really fell back in love with the game and have become super obsessed! For a while there, it got to the point where I was looking at houses and buildings and thinking "wow, I could try that in The Sims." After having done the whole 'play for a week straight and then don't open the game for six months' I finally found my groove - I've been building and starting legacy challenges and just generally having a lot of fun with both aspects of gameplay. One of the biggest things to happen on YouTube this year was definitely Shane and Jeffree's The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star. I was so excited for this series way back when Jeffree and Shane were joking about the idea of creating a palette and filming the process. Shane, and Andrew, really went above and beyond with this series and I loved following the journey and getting a behind-the-scenes look at creating makeup products. I don't know how Shane will be able to top this one, but I'm excited for whatever he's got planned next! It was so hard to narrow a majority of these favourites down as I'm still using/watching/listening/playing with most of the favourites I've shared over the past twelve months. But I'm pretty happy with what I've crowned my absolute favourites for 2019 - let me know what you're thoughts on anything that I've shared and also what you've loved over the past year!
Happy 2020! Victoria :) |
