Happy New Years Eve Eve Eve! How the hell is 2020 nearly over? It's been both the longest year and the shortest year ever. Like, what? I think we can all agree this has been a bloody strange year. So to finally say goodbye to 2020, I though I'd look at my favourite favourites of the year. This year I didn't have that many favourites because I've not really branched out to try new things, but I managed to scrounge around enough to pull this list together! The two games I've favourited this year are both ones I still love playing, so it was really a toss of the coin for this one. But as much as I love Covet Fashion, I just had to give this honour to Stardew Valley! This is everything I love about gaming and it's way too easy to spend hours upon hours upon hours playing. It's super addictive and such a chill game to play - there's a reason why the game is continually hyped up! If you were a fan of the OG Harvest Moon, and even enjoy Animal Crossing, this is one you definitely need to check out! There weren't too many beauty products that I picked up this year, but one that I have been really loving is the Sukin Skincare Natural Deodorant. I didn't know what to expect when I started using this deodorant and I've been pleasantly surprised over the past few months. It's lightly fragranced but still works just as well as a non-natural deodorant, but is better for you and the environment! I now really want to try more natural deodorants alongside these, so hit me with recommendations! OBVIOUSLY that's Hamilton! Ya'll know I LOVE Hamilton, and was super excited for the filmed version to be released next year. The one thing Rona did was bring the release forward 18 months, so there's a positive there! To be honest, I had already seen the slime tutorial, but I ADORED the official recording. I've watched the movie and listen to the soundtrack this year way more than any sane person should. I think I know the musical forwards, backwards and upside down. If you're still living under a rock, get your butt onto Disney+ and start watching! While I'm not new to tea, this year was the first time trying T2 Tea. And let me tell you, it's damn good tea! Not only that, but this year was the first time actually using loose leaf tea and I'm definitely a fan. My parents gifted me a gorgeous teapot for one for my birthday, and then this gorgeous box stash for Christmas. I'm now well stocked up on delicious tea flavours! If you're a tea drinker and are yet to try T2 Tea, go grab some flavours and start drinking! The absolute savior of 2020 has been my Blue Light Glasses! I think we all should have bought shares in a company dealing in blue light glasses because I'm sure sales went through the roof this year with everyone stuck staring at screens. I don't get headaches as often (and really notice it when I don't wear the glasses for a day or two), and I think they've really helped with sleep (difficult to say when I'm a night owl who will easily be scrolling through TikTok at 3am). Whether they actually work or it's just a massive placebo affect, I don't care - if you're yet to try a pair and spend way too much time staring at a screen, you NEED to get go and and grab a pair! I mean, it's gotta be One Direction! As I said in my original favourites post, I've been a casual fan of 1D since they were established, but I only stuck to whatever songs were popular at the time. One of my friends, however, is a stan and a half, so when I managed to catch up with friends in the middle of the year, her influence really got be hooked. I've listened to way too much 1D the past six months than I like to admit. And not only that, but I've gotten into all their solo work as well. Let me tell you, being a post-hiatus stan is not a smart move, but I do still recommend deep diving into 1D if you haven't already. You'll both love and hate me for it. Check our my 'this is liv's fault.' 1D playlist on Spotify. The other music favourite is a podcast favourite, and that is true crime podcasts! I've been listening to a LOT of true crime podcasts this year, and while I am working on a recommendations post for the new year, I will give a shout out to my a couple of my favourites. Two daily podcasts are Today In True Crime and Morning Cup of Murder, which as the names suggest, looks back at true crime event from that day in history, all in an easy 10-25 minute podcast that easily slots into your day. Other weekly/twice-weekly podcasts include Morbid: A True Crime Podcast, Death of a Starlet, and Casefile True Crime. Despite watching a LOT of YouTube this year, I only had one YouTube favourite. But it's a pretty damn good one - Buzzfeed Unsolved. The amount of times I've rewatched these episodes, both supernatural and true crime, is actually ridiculous. Like, I only just watched them for the first time this year, and yet I've seen them at least 5 times each. I suppose that's what 2020 does to people... Shane and Ryan are fantastic hosts and really make the true crime stories come to life and are hilarious in their supernatural investigations. Supernatural has probably been my most-watched, simply because Ryan and Shane on location ghoul hunting is HILARIOUS, and some of my personal favourites are: The Haunted Halls of Waverly Hills Hospital, The Captive Spirits of Eastern State Penitentiary, The Horrors of Pennhurst Asylum, The Subterranean Terrors of the London Tombs, The Shadowy Spirits of Rolling Hills Asylum, The Phantom Prisoners of Ohio State Penitentiary, The Haunting of Hannah Williams, The Haunted Shadows of St. Augustine Lighthouse, and The Lost Souls of the USS Yorktown. And that's a wrap on 2020! Despite everything that has happened this year, and no matter how long things got for you, just remember that you made it to the end of the year! Even with all the shit this year, I hope you've had many happy and positive moments. Here's to hitting restart in 2021 and kicking butt in the new year.
See You In 2021! Victoria :) |
