Hello There! Another month has just flown by and I can't believe we are in May already - I swear May was about three months away a week ago! It's honestly scary how fast this year is going. But no matter how fast time is going, I've still found time to have to some new favourites, or rediscover old ones. TRESemme Perfectly (Un)Done Sea Salt Spray Anyone who knows me will know that I have naturally dead straight hair. I'm not complaining, I like my hair, but I do wish I had curly/wavy hair every so often. So recently I have become obsessed with this sea salt spray from TRESemme. It can be used by people with naturally straight and naturally curly hair, so it's great for anyone looking to get some beachy waves. After washing my hair, I'll let it air dry for a bit, give it a brush, spray the sea salt spray, then twist my hair and use bobby pins to secure the twisted hair. Then I'll sleep with my hair pinned up and twisted to wake up to some awesome waves that could almost be natural. I absolutely love the look it gives, plus this spray smells awesome, which is a big plus. I actually posted a photo on Instagram recently (and changed my profile pictures across social media) with my wavy hair if you wanna see the spray in action. 'Better With You' by Jesse McCartney Jesse McCartney dropped some new music at the end of March and my twelve year old self has been absolutely living. I've not listened to new Jesse McCartney music since 2006 when he released Right Where You Want Me ('Just So You Know' was my jam!), so having 'Better With You' on repeat this past month has been amazing. Not only is the music video awesome, but the lyrics and music are perfect - it feels like a bit of a mash-up of 'Beautiful Soul' and 'Just So You Know' and very old school. A new Jesse McCartney album is on it's way and I'm super excited. If the rest of the tracks are as amazing as this one, I'm going to be jamming out to the album into the new year (although, I'm not really sure when the new album is meant to drop). Seriously, if you haven't heard this song yet, seen the video, or maybe haven't listened to the song for a few days, go listen to it RIGHT NOW! I am seriously obsessed - it has been in rotation with the two new Panic! At The Disco songs, which I still can't get enough of! Night Rain PlaylistAs someone who either likes to read before bed or watch YouTube/TV before bed, I've found that I find it easier to fall asleep while listening to something (this could also hark back to my childhood where I needed to listen to music to fall asleep as I used to have nightmares - but more on that at a later date, maybe). I usually fall asleep while watching a video, only to have to wake up to turn the TV/iPad off and then not fall back to sleep - damn my brain wanting to think about the most random things while I trying to sleep! So while trawling through playlists on Spotify, I found one called 'Night Rain', which is just a playlist full of rain tracks. And it's been amazing to fall asleep to! I love the rain, especially listening to the rain at night - which I've not heard in a long time as we've had barely any rain this year - so this playlist has become a must in my nightly routine. I'll shuffle the playlist, set my phone to stop playing after 12 minutes then go to sleep. I've been able to fall asleep so much more easily and I honestly think I've had a better nights sleep since using the playlist. I really recommend checking out this playlist, or a similar one, if you want some help turning your brain off and getting to sleep at night. Nintendo DS & Harvest Moon Once again, I dug out my Nintendo DS. This was a favourite back in June last year, and like back then, I've been a little too obsessed with it. This time, it's been with playing Harvest Moon, which I think is my all-time favourite DS game, closely followed by New Super Mario Bros. I just love Harvest Moon, and whenever I dig my DS out, I always start a new game. I've never been able to finish the game, but I've sure had a lot of fun playing - maybe one day I'll play the game long enough to rescue all 101 Harvest Sprites! Time Team As a history nerd, Time Team is a show that I love to binge at least once a year. I've never managed to watch every single episode in a binge session, but I really enjoy revisiting episodes I've seen multiple times. This semester, one of my units is an archaeology unit, and one week involved watching an episode of Time Team (one that I'd seen several times), so I naturally continued to watch the series to the point where I'm now up to season 10. I've now slowed-up my binge, but I'm going to slowly continue through the rest of the series throughout May. Most episodes are available on YouTube and Dailymotion, so I highly recommend watching a few episodes if you're a history/archaeology nerd! Lizzie McGuire Last week's blog post was looking at some of the songs on my nostalgia playlist (you can read it here if you missed it) and two of the songs featured in episodes of Lizzie McGuire. So while looking for the relevant gifs I actually found every single episode on YouTube! Despite needing to do a tonne of university work, I couldn't resist having a binge session. I actually never saw every episode of Lizzie McGuire back in the day, and I only now have about 16 episodes on DVD. So it was amazing to be finally able to watch all the episodes and truly appreciate how amazing the show was. And I'm not afraid to admit that I cried at the end of the final episode and was left wishing the series had continued to follow Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda at high school. I also really want to see the cast reunite for a one-off episode 14 years later. April has been a fun month and I feel like these favourites really highlight that. Let me know some of the things that you've been loving this past month!
