Happy 2020 Everyone! I wanted to do something different this week and introduce a new aspect to my blog. While it's not something I talk about a lot online, or even IRL, spirituality surrounding Wiccan and Pagan beliefs is something I've been very into for many years now. And while it's not something I necessarily practice or call upon every single day, my spirituality definitely influences my subconscious. Something I do delve into is tarot and oracle cards and the insights a reading can give. So, to kickstart the new year, I did a couple of spreads to see what 2020 has in store for me. Like many people, I don't necessarily see tarot and oracle cards predicting my future. That's not really how they work, but I do think they can help give you an insight into what is happening in your life. Everyone interprets the cards differently, and we see what we relate to, so while I may see the following meanings in the cards, they aren't going to be what you see for the year ahead. The two decks I will be calling upon are the Moonology Oracle Cards by Yasmin Boland, with artwork by Nyx Rowan, and the traditional Rider Waite Tarot Cards. I adore the artwork of the Moonology deck and have always connected with the moon and astronomy/astrology. And you really can't go past the traditional tarot cards and artwork (although there are plenty of gorgeous decks that I'm drawn to and would love to add to my collection). three spread // moonology oracle Although this spread is usually seen as being the past, the present and the future, this was just a simple three-card draw focusing on the year ahead. Waning Moon // What do you need to release? The Waning Moon phase sees the moon moving from Full to New, falling away night by night. In that sense, this card represents both letting something go to move on, and moving into easier times in a situation that has peaked. For the year ahead, this card could be a short-term insight, or a more long-haul process - could 2020, as a whole, be a year to let go and move forward, or will this moment arise over the coming months as a situation comes to its head? New Moon Eclipse // Expect powerful change A New Moon Eclipse, or a daytime solar eclipse, is one of the most exciting astrological events. This card screams positivity, focusing on beginnings and new directions, and taking a chance to follow the path you've suddenly been pointed down. For the year ahead, this card seems to suggest that there is a turning-point ahead, one that will lead to a change of pace and being pushed into the right direction. And as scary and unpredictable the path ahead looks, it's where you're meant to be, so hold on tight and enjoy the ride that's to come. Blue Moon // Believe in the impossible Astrologically, a Blue Moon is the second Full Moon to occur during a month, or the third of four Full Moons in a season. And while they're not as rare as the 'once in a Blue Moon' saying would have you believe, they still don't happen like clockwork annually. This card shows that something rare or one-off is brewing, and it's a chance that shouldn't just be dismissed. For the year ahead, this card suggests that an opportunity will present itself, and it's one that may not present itself again, or anytime soon. It also serves as a reminder that dreams can come true if you truly believe it. Overall, these cards suggest that 2020 will bring with it opportunities that shouldn't be so easily pushed to the side. Instead, it will be a year of positive change, even if it doesn't feel positive in the moment. This is the year that the path ahead will become clearer and things will finally start falling into place. twelve months spread // rider waite tarot Generally a twelve-month spread is done as a circle, but this is still the same idea, with each card representing a month, read from left to right, just in a more space-saving and photo friendly draw. In a twelve-month spread, the Major Arcana tend to indicate more major events, where Minor Acarna tend to indicate more ordinary happenings, although still significant in the grand scheme of things. Meanwhile Court Cards indicate dominant personalities making an appearance. JANUARY // Six of Wands

Decisions and behaviours need to be clear and thought through. In terms of love and relationships, it's a time to listen to and understand what your heart wants. In terms of success and happiness, it's a time to take a step back and let your work speak for itself. December // Seven of Wands The Seven of Swords suggests leaving the past behind as well as going forward to achieve new heights. As the end of the year, it's the time to stake a claim or move onto something new. In terms of love and relationships, it's a time to grow and develop in stages. In terms of success and happiness, it's a time to not underestimate your abilities - you are already on the path of progress. It's obviously hard to truly sum up what a year's worth of cards can mean - these readings will certainly become clearer as the year goes on. But in short, 2020 will about progress and reflecting on the path ahead, and whether it's the one we're meant to be on. Together, the oracle and tarot spreads work alongside each other to suggest that this year will be one of change, new opportunities and finding oneself - and as scary as that sounds, it's exciting. I'm not letting the cards tell me how to live my life, but their meanings and interpretations seem to be a good omen for what's to come. Let me know if you're interested in seeing more spiritual content or more spreads like these - reading the cards are a constant learning experience and it's always interesting to see what you can read from them. Blessed Be! Victoria :) |
