Sorry about being absent recently - I've been super busy but now I'm back to blogging and making videos! Today's post is really exciting as I was nominated for a Liebster Award by Eva from Styled by Eva! This award is given to bloggers by other bloggers as a way giving recognition and appreciation to one another, and to help discover other amazing bloggers.
I've seen several different versions of rules for this award, so the following may differ to what you've done or seen, but since Eva nominated me, I'm just going to follow the rules that she laid out. They are:
Here we go!
10 Facts About Me
Questions From Styled By Eva
1. Why did you start your blog?
Over the past nine years, I've had a blog in some form or another. However, it wasn't until the beginning of 2015 that I actually got serious about blogging when I started my book blog. In May this year, I decided to create this blog as a way of expanding on what I was posting on my YouTube channel, and to post content that worked better as a blog post. I've loved blogging about books, but I wanted a place to talk about other things as well, hence Just Me, Victoria!
2. What was the last holiday you went on?
I went to Forbes for five days earlier this year! It was a great little holiday with my family, which was also part family reunion. The holiday started off touring around the beautiful town and finished by catching up with family I hadn't seen since the last reunion. I made a blog post about it, if you're interested!
3. What is your most prized possession?
Tough one! The first three things that come to mind are my books, my phone and my dog. The next two things that come to mind are my autograph collection and my Harry Potter collection. I don't really know what my most prized possession, but I have a lot of possessions that I wouldn't want to lose!
4. Who is your blogging inspiration?
I don't really know. Having grown up online and reading so many different blogs over the years, I've been inspired by a number of different bloggers, and I'm sure that has influenced how I've approached blogging myself. I'm a bad blogger in the sense that I don't make it a point to consistently read other people's blogs (which is something I really need to work on). But I know that, in the future, there will be bloggers that I find who will inspire me in the content I produce.
5. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Do you know how many people, dead or alive, there are to choose from?! My mind has totally gone blank but has filled to the brim with names at the same time. I'm going to cheat a little a divide this into two categories, not that it is going to make narrowing it down any easier (so don't expect me to choose just one for each!).
For dead people, I'd love to meet King Tut, Cleopatra, Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Queen Victoria, Princess Diana, my ancestors, my grandfather, and my cousin Beverley.
For alive people, I'd love to meet Queen Elizabeth, JK Rowling, Zoe Sugg, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah J. Maas, Jamie Dornan, and Emma Watson.
6. What is your favourite post that you've ever written?
Since this blog is only five months old, I haven't really written that many posts to choose from. I think my favourite, so far anyway, has to be my very first post, titled 'Bushrangers, History & Family | Forbes', in which I talk about my aforementioned holiday in Forbes, the sites I saw, and the history behind our sight-seeing. It was fun to be able to write about my travel experience and what I loved about the area.
7. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to your younger self?
There's that boring saying that you wouldn't want to change anything about your former self as it's how you became the person you are today. And then there's the cliched response to questions like this, where you tell yourself to not care about what others think of you, or to know that things get better, etc. Because of this, I don't really know what advice I'd give my younger self...
8. How did you pick your blog's name?
As I mentioned earlier, this blog is an extension of my second YouTube channel, which I started in August last year to talk about things other than books. After spending what felt like forever trying to come up with my book blog name, I found it surprisingly easy coming up with this second one. I wanted my own name to be included in the name, and when I came up with 'Just Me,' I knew I had a name that described what that channel, and by extension this blog, would be about - just me. This is a place for me to talk about all of the things that I love, all of my thoughts, all the the things that are just me.
9. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Kind. Fangirl. Internet-obsessed. (It's hyphenated, it counts as one word!)
10. If you could time travel to any decade in the 20th Century, what would it be?
Thank you for restricting me to the 20th Century, because I would have had a hard time choosing otherwise (see, major history nerd!). Every decade in the 20th Century would be super interesting to travel back to, but I'm going to say the 90s. I may have been born in the mid-90s, but I would have loved to have experienced the decade as a teen/adult.
11. Have you learnt anything from blogging? If so, what?
I can't really pinpoint anything that I have learnt from blogging, but I do think it has taught me things that I may not have noticed. You can't blog consistently for two and a half years and not take something away from it. And I know that I'll continue to learn from this experience, even if I don't notice that I'm learning from it. It's a small and gradual process that I'm excited to be a part of!
