Hey There Everyone!
Back again this week with another blogger appreciation award with the Sunshine Blogger Award! Much like the Liebster Award, the Sunshine Blogger Award gives bloggers the opportunity to connect with one another and help share the work of other bloggers, as well as promote themselves. I was kindly nominated by Abby of Abby Clare, so thank you so much!
There are, of course, some rules to follow:
So let's get into it!
Questions from Abby Clare
1. Who or what was your biggest inspiration for starting your blog?
I think having grown up with the online world, I just naturally wanted to be a part of that in some way. There have been so many bloggers that I've followed over the years, and each one of them have inspired and influenced me in some way to starting a blog. I wanted a little corner of the internet to share my thoughts, bonus points if people actually want to read it.
This blog came about after I wanted a way to expand on my YouTube channel and share content that would go alongside the videos I made, or new content that worked better in writing than video format.
2. How long have you been blogging for?
I think I started my first blog back when I was in Year 8 or 9, so about nine years ago. Back then, I didn't really know what to post about, and I'm pretty sure no one was interested in what I was posting anyway. Although, at one point, I did have a blog dedicated to my love of Harry Potter. Over the years, I think I've had about three or four different blogs before I settled in permanently with My Books Are Me in January 2015 - a place to share my love of books and reading. Just Me, Victoria came about in August 2016 when I wanted a place to talk about other things that I love, but didn't want to add to my book blog. I definitely consider 2015 the year I really started blogging.
3. If you could be an animal, what would you be? And why?
So many animals to choose from! While my favourite animal is an owl and I definitely think that would be a great choice, I'm ultimately going with a cat. I'd love to lounge around all day, curl up in the sun, and squeeze into the weirdest of places!
4. What is your go-to comfort food?
Well, it depends:
First choice is always chocolate - there's really nothing that a good piece of chocolate can't fix!
Second choice is pasta - give me a nice steaming bowl of pasta any day! My Italian roots definitely shine through here.
Third choice is toast - honestly, my mum would say 'have some toast' all the time, to the point where I could say I was dying and she'd suggest I have some toast!
5. What is your favourite holiday or celebration during the year?
As an Aussie, we don't really celebrate that many holidays - we've got Easter and Christmas. But my favourite is certainly Christmas. Getting & giving presents aside (because really, you're lying if you say you don't enjoy that aspect of Christmas), I love the food and the atmosphere of the day. I love, for the most part, spending time with family. We don't go crazy at Christmas, but it's always such a relaxed day that it's hard for it not to be my favourite holiday.
6. What is your main goal for the end of the year? (Socially or personally)
Hmm, I don't really know. I'm not really someone who sets themselves goals (a part from a yearly reading goal). Sure, I have goals surrounding my online life - follower/viewer/reader numbers that I hope to reach. And I have a goal to do well with my university course. But I don't go out of my way to set myself goals. I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing, but I just choose to see where life takes me...
7. What is your earliest memory?
I feel like my answer for this question could be tainted - a few years ago I converted all of my grandparent's old home videos onto DVD, so I ended up watching all this old footage from between the ages of four to ten several times! One memory that springs to mind was when I was about four or five. One of my cousins had stayed overnight and we ended up ignoring each other for most of the day because we were angry with one another - no idea why. I remember us both being outside with me sitting on the steps at the back down and him about 10 metres away, both hymphing away - so dramatic!
8. When you were younger what was your dream job?
You know, I'm not entirely sure. Still to this day I don't 100% know what I want to be when I grow up, and I'm 22. When I went through my The Saddle Club phase, I definitely wanted to be a professional horse rider. I think being a Vet was a five-minute dream of mine. When I was obsessing with McLeod's Daughters I definitely wanted to own and work on a big farm.
9. What is your favourite holiday destination?
I haven't really visited too many places on holiday. I think the best holiday I went on when I was younger was to Adelaide, via the Great Ocean Road. We got to see all the coastal sights, like the Twelve Apostles (we were actually there about two months before one collapsed, so I can say I saw nine of them!), the London Bridge (or London Arch), Loch Ard Gorge, the Grotto, and the Blowhole. Plus the lighthouse where they filmed Round The Twist! The Great Ocean Road is definitely a must-see for anyone traveling that part of Australia. Definitely a memorable destination that I hope to travel back to one day.
10. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing would definitely have to be the connections you make with readers and fellow bloggers, whether it be on your blog itself, or through your social media accounts. From just receiving nice comments or feedback, to actually striking up a friendship, I love the community that blogging has created. It's not only an outlet to express your thoughts, feelings and ideas, but it's a way to connect with others from all over the world, whom you wouldn't otherwise get to meet.
11. If you were stuck on an island for 24 hours, what five things would you want with you?
