AUTHOR: Emma Hart GENRE: NA Romance PAGES: 174 RELEASED: 23 February 2021 SERIES: The Bookworm’s Guide #3 SYNOPSIS: What I thought I’d get on Valentine’s Day: a card. What I got on Valentine’s Day: a blind date with my brand new roommate. Let it be known that I, Saylor Green, am wholeheartedly against blind dating. I think it’s superficial, unnecessary, and designed wholly to force people into relationships they aren’t ready for. It’s me. I’m people. So when Dylan Parker takes the seat across from me, I’m ready to dismiss him at one glance. The problem? He’s hot and funny and sweet and the exact kind of guy I read about in the romance novels I sell like hotcakes in my bookstore. He’s also my new roommate. Who likes to walk around in his sweatpants and peer over my shoulder and comment on all my online dating escapades. When he offers to help me flirt my way to dating success, I’m all for it. But what am I supposed to do when the only person I want to flirt with is... Dylan? I was kindly sent a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. A bookworm + a swoony British roommate = a romance fit for a novel!
It’s been four months since Dylan moved into Saylor’s apartment and the pair have been living together well, except for that fact that both are attracted to one another but don’t plan on acting on their feelings. With almost all her friends in serious relationships, Saylor decides to take the leap at online dating again. The only problem is, she’s full of sass and sarcasm and is terrible at flirting. Dylan offers to take her out to dinner and help her with her flirting, but when the waitress starts flirting with him, Saylor can’t help but feel jealous. She’s happy with him as her friend and roommate and doesn’t want to cross that line, even if they both know how they feel about one another. But with her friends telling her to take a jump and act on her feelings, the wall she’s built up slowly starts to crumble. And she’s hoping like hell that she won’t get heartbroken in the process. Yay, finally we’re at Saylor’s story! She’s been such a fun and sassy character throughout the earlier books, so I was really excited to finally dive into her story. And, after having met Dylan in the previous book, it was great to get to know more about him too. PLUS, there were SO many updates about the three previous couples AND teasing for the next three books in the spin-off trilogy, so there was lots happening in this book! Dylan and Saylor’s relationship was fun and cute, with a nice mix of friends-to-lovers and roommates-to-lovers. I did, however, feel like there was something missing and there needed to be more before we jumped ahead for the epilogue, but it was still a fun ride nonetheless. And naturally, we’ll still get to see more of Dylan and Saylor in the next three books. Once again, Emma served up a fun bookish rom-com that was filled with bookish banter, crazy duck-loving, yoga-doing grandparents, and a swoony British personal trainer, all wrapped up in a cute cover. |
