AUTHOR: Emma Hart GENRE: NA Romance PAGES: 178 RELEASED: 27 April 2021 SERIES: The Introvert’s Guide #1 SYNOPSIS: Online dating: the act in which you try to avoid the catfishes and D pics. And try not to get caught hooking up with your best friend’s brother. With all my best friends off the market, it’s time that I, Tori Sussex, join them. So where better to find my future husband than the internet? It’s great. I get to get all the awkward stuff out of the way and already know if I’m going to like the guy before we meet in person. It’s a shame nothing is ever that simple. My relationship with Colton Lane is the very definition of complicated—dirty little no-strings-attached hook-ups we’ve somehow managed to keep secret from all our friends for the past six months. We’re bound to get caught, and if I’m serious about dating, I only have one choice. Call it quits. End our little covert booty calls for good. Tell him my parking space is off-limits to him. It should be easy. It should be simple. And I’m sure it would be… If only I wasn’t in love with him. This book was kindly sent to from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. A hilarious secret hook-up romance we’ve been waiting FOUR books to follow!
It’s no secret that Tori and Colton dislike one another – every time they’re together they bicker and goad one another. But what is a secret is that they’ve been hooking up ever since the disastrous Valentine’s speed dating evening. In a town like White Peaks, it’s a wonder they’ve managed to go six months without anyone finding out. But with their friends, nearly all of whom are now in relationships, starting to push them to try online dating, it’s becoming harder and harder to come up with excuses as to why they shouldn’t. What’s more, neither Tori nor Carlton are willing to admit to each other that they’re arrangement has become more than just sex – they’ve started to fall for one another, despite their best efforts to keep emotions out of the arrangement. Tori and Carlton’s story has been teasing us for SO long that I’m so glad Emma finally delivered on it! The sexual tension between the pair has been oozing throughout the previous four books (The Girl Next Door and The Bookworm’s Guide trilogy), so we’ve already got to learn a lot about both characters. Stepping into their story and narration was so easy and felt like hanging out with a friend you’ve known for years. A friends-with-benefits turned relationship romance is one of my favourite tropes to follow, and when combined with Emma’s classic romcom writing, it made for a super fun read. Once again, we were back with all our favourite White Peaks characters, including the chicken-loving grandparents at the retirement home, and it was great to be able to continue following all of their stories too. We also got to see more of London and Piper, who will be taking the lead in the next two books. With the second book in this trilogy having just dropped and the third coming soon, now is the time to dive into the world of White Peaks’ introverts and bookworms, and all the crazy shenanigans that come along with it. If you’re a romcom fan, these are definitely the books for you. |
