I recently went through my Instagram DMs, which are mainly of the accounts I've tagged in my Insta stories (a LOT of Brendon Urie & Panic! At The Disco recently) and I found a message from way back in February from fellow blogger Beth from Life With Bee. Don't worry, I hadn't ignored this message the entire time - I did reply back when she sent it. She had done the Mystery Blogger Award and I was one of her nominees! So a big thank you to Beth for nominating/tagging me - make sure you go check out her post. It's always great to be nominated for these blogging awards and knowing that there is someone looking at your content.
So what is the Mystery Blogger Award? Like previous posts I've done, it's a way to help bloggers connect with one another and share the blogger love. It's not really an 'award' per se, more like a tag, but it's really great to be able to support fellow bloggers in the community.
The award creator, Okoto Enigma, described the award as follows:
"'Mystery Blogger Award' is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion."
The rules are pretty easy -
Three Things About Me:
This part is always fun - what can I share that I haven't already used in a previous blogger award posts?
Who I Nominate:
Again, this is always so hard - some of the following I have previously nominated for other blogger awards, but that was a while ago, so repeats are okay.
Questions From Beth
1) What is your favourite memory from 2017?
It has got to be writing a non-fiction book and having it published! I wrote a local history book to celebrate the 100th Show of my local Show Society and it was an amazing experience from start to finish - even when I was stressing that I wouldn't get it finished in time. I've talked about the whole process over on My Books Are Me, both the blog and YouTube channel, so do go have a look if you want to know more. Overall, it was something I never thought I'd be doing when I was 21 and I'm honoured to have contributed something to the town's historical record.
2) Where would you like to be in 10 years time?
It's weird to think I'll be 32, nearly 33, in ten years time - that's kind of mind boggling. It's also kind of scary to be thinking about what I'll be doing in ten years time - I just like focusing on the present as it seems to be rushing by faster and faster. But in general, I hope in ten years I'm happy, maybe having written at least one more book. I hope I'm still blogging, because let's face it, the online world is here to stay and I love being part of it.
3) Where is your dream place to live and why?
Whenever I see this question I instantly think England/UK. I've never been to the UK, but it's been a fascination of mine for as long as I can remember. UK history is one of my favourite areas of study and I just generally want to visit and explore everything it has to offer. But I can also see myself living somewhere in England.
4) What would you say is the best thing that has happened to you so far?
I do just have to go back to the book thing. It was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up when it was put forward to the Show committee - it was a given that I'd be the one to do it, but they needed to agree with the idea for it to actually happen. Without having that backing, I wouldn't have a book out in the world. It's in my old High School library, circulating in my Shire Council library service, on the shelves in the homes of a good portion of the community, and more importantly it's on my own bookshelf. The amount of positive feedback I received from the book was so overwhelming - so many people were proud of the work I had done, people I have known for most of my life. Just last week I had a predominant member of the community ask me if I had anything else in the works, with our local journalist suggesting I take on trying to write something to celebrate the town's 125th birthday at the end of the year. Whether or not anything more on the local history front happens, I'm still blown away by what I was able to achieve and sometimes still have to pinch myself.
5) Do you have any pets, If not do you want any?
I have five pets! A dog (jack russell/fox terrier) named Holly, who we rescued from the local pound, and four cats - Hermione, Crookshanks and two fluffy kittens who still don't really have names, but that I both call Little One.
