AUTHOR: Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone GENRE: Adult Romance PAGES: 432 pages RELEASED: 20 September 2022 SYNOPSIS: When Bee Hobbes takes the lead in a squeaky-clean romantic Christmas movie, there are only three rules: 1. Don’t get involved with anyone on set. 2. Don’t tell anyone what you do for a living. 3. Definitely don’t get involved with anyone on set. 3b. Seriously. Now, she’s filming in Christmas Notch, a small town with Christmas trees and festive tunes all year round. But Bee’s got a secret identity to hide, and it’s not family-friendly. And her co-star, Nolan Shaw, an ex-boyband member infamous for his own x-rated antics, not only knows it, but is secretly her biggest fan. When things start to heat up on set, Bee and Nolan must keep this steamy affair under wraps, or risk ruining everything . . . A porn star and an ex-boyband bad boy walk onto the set of a squeaky-clean Christmas film…
When the lead-lady of Teddy Ray Fletcher’s Hopeflix Christmas film drops out after an accident, he’s left scrambling to find a replacement two days before filming starts. Not to mention, he’s already stressing about trying to keep his alter-ego - porn producer Uncle Ray-Ray - a secret from the squeaky-clean executives at Hopeflix. But with this last-minute scramble, which also involves finding replacements for some of the crew, he falls back on his porn industry connections, filling the leading role with Bee Hobbes, also known as Bianca von Honey. Bee’s always wanted to break into mainstream entertainment and she’s not only excited to be flexing her acting skills, but also getting to star alongside former bad boy of the boyband INK, Nolan Shaw. Bee has been a massive fan on Nolan since she was a teen, and it turns out, Nolan is a massive fan of Bianca as well. Despite the rules Teddy set out for her to ensure that their secret isn’t exposed, it’s not long before Bee and Nolan fall into bed together while shooting their film in the snowy Christmas Notch. As their steamy affair progresses, it’s not just their careers on the line if secrets are exposed… Julie and Sierra are heating things up in this snowy Christmas romance with enough spice to melt all the snow in Christmas Notch! This book might be dressed up with a cute title and cover, but it’s definitely not your typical cute Christmas rom-com - we’re stepping into the world of a sex worker who isn’t ashamed of who she is or what she does as she lives her best sex-positive life! It was genuinely really nice to read a book following a woman working in the porn industry and have her career path be celebrated and shown in a positive light, rather than shamed and condemned. Not to mention, it was great to have this woman be plus-size and confident in her body! Bee and Nolan have instant chemistry, and it was fun following their relationship from the moment Nolan realises his new co-star is the woman he’s only ever known through his phone screen. The dynamic of that alone make this story a wild ride, and sex scenes aside, the two have a really fun connection, both in and out of the bedroom. For every bit of spice, their relationship was balanced out with the same about of heart, giving us the best of both world. There’s also a really fun cast of characters that honestly all deserve their own books - I need to keep following the mess that is Angel and Luca’s relationship, and Teddy’s character most definitely needs to be explored more, not to mention that Sunny is such a fun character that she needs to find her own happy ending! PLUS there’s definitely still more to learn about Nolan’s bandmates Kallum and Isaac! They’re also just a really great bunch of queer characters. While this is obviously a Christmas read, it also doesn’t feel overly festive (despite being on the set of a literal Christmas film in a snow-filled town literally called ‘Christmas Notch’), making it a great book to read at any point of the year. So if you’re looking to spice up your life with a little Christmas romance that definitely doesn’t belong on the likes of Hallmark, this is the book for you! Julie and Sierra definitely need to co-write more books if this is what they can deliver together! |
