AUTHOR: Willa Nash GENRE: Romance PAGES: 157 pages RELEASED: 4 November 2021 SERIES: Holiday Brothers #3 SYNOPSIS: There are a lot of places I’d rather spend Christmas Eve morning than on a cold, snowy sidewalk outside someone else’s home. I’d kill to be sitting beside a fireplace, drinking cocoa, wearing flannel pajamas and reading a book. Instead, I’m here, standing in front of my one-night stand’s house, working up the courage to ring the doorbell and tell him I’m pregnant. I hate that term—one-night stand. It sounds so cheap and sleezy. Tobias Holiday is neither of those things. He’s handsome and caring. Witty and charismatic. And once, a long time ago, he was mine. Our one-night reunion was only supposed to be a hookup. A fling with an old lover. A parting farewell before I moved to London and put my feelings for him an ocean away. How exactly am I supposed to explain that to Tobias that I’m having a baby? His baby? Maybe I could sing it. He always loved the silly songs I made up in the shower. Three French hens, two turtle doves. And a partridge and a pregnancy. Pregnancy wasn’t on the Christmas wishlist, but here we are…
In the week leading up to Christmas, just as her job in her hometown wraps up, Eva - finally bites the bullet and takes a pregnancy test. But she already knows it’s positive. Now all she has to do is tell the father. Which is how she winds up standing in Tobias Holiday’s driveway on a snowy Christmas Eve for half an hour before Tobias goes out and convinces her to come inside. Their one night together six weeks earlier was just meant to be one final farewell before Eva heads off to London. Now the former college sweethearts have one week to start figuring things out. Tobias has always been a homebody and loves his job as head architect at his father’s company, Holiday Homes. Meanwhile Eva has always been about adventure, and he job as meant she gets to live in multiple cities every year. This difference is the reason the pair split after college. And as much fun as it’s been being back in her hometown near her family, Eva’s excited to head off to London for the next year. Tobias would never ask Eva to stay knowing she really wants the adventure, but he’s not prepared to miss this pregnancy, the birth of his child, or his child’s life. Willa so casually dropped the pregnancy bomb way back in book one and has been simmering Tobias’ story throughout the previous two books, and the wait has been SO worth it! While a little more angsty than the previous two books, it was a great installment into the trilogy as we moved from the Christmas festivities of Maddox and Heath’s books, through the unknown void of the week leading up to New Years. Both Tobias and Eva had great chemistry as they attempted to navigate how to navigate a pregnancy on two different continents. But more than that, both have their own issues to overcome, especially Eva, in order to come together and prepare for their future together. They were sweet, a little bit angsty, and it all resulted in a pretty darn cute ending and epilogue. Throughout this entire novella series, the Holiday family have had such a fun vibe, and even though we didn’t get to see as much of the family in this book and the previous two, there were a few sweet moments between the Holiday family, as well as with Eva and her father. Willa’s writing style is fun and flows well, and she easily balances out the easy banter, the swoon, the spice and the angst. I’m a little bummed there are only three Holiday brothers because I’d be so up for more books with this family! This has been a super fun and festive novella series that have been the perfect reads over the silly season, and for smashing my reading goal! |
