AUTHOR: Rebecca Jenshak GENRE: Sports Romance PAGES: 302 RELEASED: 20 September 2022 SERIES: Campus Wallpapers #2 SYNOPSIS: Gavin Leonard is the worst. He lives in the best party house off campus at Valley U, overrun by jocks galore. I live next door, watching Jane Austen adaptations with my sketchbook in hand. He stays on his side of the fence. I stay on mine. Now we're accidentally on a camping trip together, but there's only one tent left. Gavin Leonard is the worst. And he's the last guy who broke my heart. A camping trip can change everything in this lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romance...
For the past year, Violet has lived in the house next to the guy who broke her heart after she found him in bed with her now ex-roommate. And over the course of that year, she’s managed to keep her interactions with Gavin to a minimum. That’s until they both end up on a camping trip together and are both promised the last remaining tent. As much as Gavin hopes the time spent together will help mend things between them, Violet is quick to remind him that she’s still very much hurt by his actions. But when she comes down with the flu over spring break while the rest of her housemates are off doing their own thing, she calls a temporary truce with Gavin when he’s the one there to help her, even watching Jane Austen films with her and reading to her from Persuasion. Gavin is determined to prove that he’s truly sorry for hurting her and that he’s not actually the bad guy she thinks he is. When Violet agrees to be Gavin’s date to a basketball gala in order to pay him back for helping her when she was sick, it’s a turning point in their relationship that could either hurt them both even more, or be the best thing that’s ever happened to them. Once again, we are back in the world of Valley U! I absolutely adore the world that Rebecca has created and that she continually keeps expanding it – it feels so comfortable and familiar, and at this point I feel like I’m a student at Valley U too! Plus, I love that she gives us little updates of our previous leading characters – if you’ve read The Assist from the Smart Jocks series, you’ll get a nice kick out of the reappearance of Wes and Blair in this one! Given that The Assist and the basketball team is where I started my journey with Rebecca, it feels like a nice homecoming. The moment we saw Violet and Gavin’s camping scene in the previous book, I have been SO excited for their story – the enemies/exes-to-lovers trope with a side of ‘there’s only one bed (or tent in this case)’ is one of my favourite romances to read. Their story was super sweet as they both reconnected with one another and overcame the heartbreak from a year ago, and it was such a lovely journey to be on with them. As always, Rebecca also provides some really great friend groups alongside the romance – there’s something about Rebecca’s friend groups that make you wish you were hanging out alongside them, going to parties, getting drinks at The Hideout, and having movie marathons. I can’t wait to see how these friendships evolve with Dahlia’s story in book three! If you’re like me and a sucker for sports romances, can’t get enough of exes-to-lovers stories, or just love books with the ‘only one bed’ trope, then this book is going to tick all your boxes! And if you haven’t already, make sure you catch up on all of Rebecca’s Valley U books, because they’re all fabulous sports romances! |
