Does that make sense? Anyway, long story short, I got stood up. I’m never doing it again. DREW: His loss! They never expected one text message to change their lives. Can they let their guard down long enough for love to heal their pain as the texts continue? Crushed and lonely after losing her big brother, Dani wonders if Drew is the angel she didn't know she was looking for. I was kindly sent a copy of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own A cute and sweet modern day romance that started with a simple text.
After losing her brother, Dani has continued texting his number, just to feel a little closer to him and to help her slowly move on. Until one day, someone replies. Drew has just picked up his new phone, surprised to receive a text from a random woman about being stood up on her date. He decides to reply, and soon Dani and Drew are texting on a regular basis, sharing everything but personal details. It’s not long before they meet in person, and the connection they felt for one another via text is multiplied tenfold. As they navigate a relationship, their connection is tested when Drew’s work as a Marine opens wounds Dani has spent months trying to heal. But true love is worth fighting for, and neither are going to let anything stop them from being together. I love the meet cute of texting a random person/wrong number and having them be the love of your life. It’s a cute modern day romance, and the text conversations always add such a great element to the story. Dani and Drew were both fun characters, and together their relationship was great to follow. The story was super predictable, so the big moments didn’t pack as much punch as they could have. The writing also felt a little off at times, but it was enjoyable nonetheless and was a great quick read that was light and fun. Given the epilogue, I’m hoping for a book two. Nikki seemed like an interesting enough character, and the glimpses of the relationship she had/will have definitely caught my attention, so I do hope we get her story. The story had potential to be a hit, and while it didn’t quiet hit the mark, it was still a fun romance read if you’re looking for something a bit light and sweet. |
