Why hello there! I was traveling recently and had to pack light, which meant I had to put a lot of thought as to what makeup products I needed - what were must-haves and which were the most versatile. So today I wanted to share with you all my makeup essentials - the products that I use all the time and that I can totally just use on their own for a simple and basic bit of makeup. They're all my travel must-haves and products you definitely need to check out if you haven't already! Obviously, we have to start with foundation! I've finally found a favourite foundation after playing around with a few different brands and formulas over the past couple of years. It's probably not going to be my forever foundation, but it's pretty damn good for the foreseeable future. And that's the ColourPop No Filter Stix Foundation, in the shade Light 40N. This is such a nice and light foundation with great coverage. I'm still so surprised at how good the coverage is for such little product. I blend this out with a beauty blender and I love how much skin looks. Because it's so light, it's perfect for both chilled no-makeup days and for more glam looks. Nearly every time I place a ColourPop order I stock up because I don't want to be caught short! Next up is setting powder. I do of course use concealer on a regular basis, but I tend to mix it up each time I apply my makeup, and sometimes I don't feel the need to use concealer at all, so I'm not adding it to my list. For setting powder, I've come to absolutely love the Revolution Lace Luxury Baking Powder. Firstly, there is SO much product in this tub - way more than most brands provide, and for less than half the price. Product-wise, it's such a nice baking and setting powder. As someone with combination to oily skin, it seriously keeps my oils at bay, particularly around my nose and forehead. Sure, at the end of a long day wearing makeup it's starting to seep through, but overall it keeps my foundation in place all day. I use a beauty blender to bake under my eyes, on my nose and sometimes my forehead, then use a brush to blend it out and set the rest of my foundation - I don't need a lot since the foundation itself has a matte finish, but it's nice to really set down those oily areas. To add some colour, I always use bronzer. I rarely contour and blush just isn't my thing, so bronzer is a must whenever I apply my makeup. My current favourite is the ColourPop Pressed Powder Bronzer in the shade Private Party. It's such a nice everyday bronzer that isn't too intense and really easy to build up. While it does have some bronze shimmer to it, it's a relatively matte bronzer, which I really like for an everyday look - I have plenty of bronzers that are more shimmer-heavy for when I really need to be bronzed up. As someone who doesn't tend to use contour and blush as I said, this is really great for adding that much-needed pop of colour and healthiness. Onto brows! I, somehow, have quite a few different brow products from several different brands. And as much as I love playing around with the different formulas, I always come back to the MCoBeauty More Brows Brush on Fibre Gel in the shade medium/dark. Because you just brush it on and blend it out, it's super quick and easy to apply - one step and you're out the door! The small spoolie is perfect for helping to shape your brows without the worry of getting product everywhere. For me, doing my brows is just to darken them up since they are so much lighter than my dyed hair colour and tend to get lost in my makeup, so this is great for taming, adding that bit of colour, and also filling in the few gaps I do have. Now it's time for the eyes! Of course, I do tend to wear eye shadow whenever I apply my makeup, but since I'm always dipping into different or multiple palettes each time I do my makeup, I can't really pinpoint a must-have favourite. But, most of my collection is ColourPop and Revolution, and I tend to stick with browns and neutrals (maybe I'll make an eye shadow collection post...). Sometimes, you don't even need to do eye shadow for a really basic look, but mascara is a MUST, and for me, I can't go past the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. I've tried many mascaras over the years, but I just keep coming back to this baby - it's your staple black and basic wand, but it does the job well! For the most part, I don't need my lashes looking totally glam, so this is great for just giving them a bit of body, colour and taming. Sure, it builds up to be a bit more va-va-voom, but for those looks I tend to reach for one of my other mascaras, although it does the job if I don't have the others on hand. To complete any look, you need something on the lips! If you know me, you'll know I LOVE the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip, and while I have a nice collection of same but different shades, my everyday go-to is the shade WYD. It's a beautiful nude brown that goes with any and every look. Sure, I like to have a red or hot pink lip on occasion, but I just can't get enough of this beauty. The Ultra Matte Lip formula continues to amaze me - it dries down nicely and just does not budge. Okay, so it budges a little during meals, but I find that this shade just slowly fades away, rather than looking obvious that it's worn off with food. If you're looking for the perfect brown nude, this is it! And that's the completed look! Together, these products are perfect for a simple look - sometimes I might forego the lipstick if I'm not really feeling it that day. And not only that, these are the products I use when I want a more glam look - it's really all dependent on the eye shadow look I go for, adding in some blinding highlight, and maybe changing up the lip colour if I'm feeling adventurous. It's clear to see I love to keep it simple - less is more when it comes to makeup (especially because it takes me 0.3 seconds to take a look from simple and everyday to a little more glam than I intended). Let me know which products are your everyday essentials - what can't you live without? See You Soon! Victoria :) Get the Look: (*affiliate)
