Why Hello There Stranger! Yes, it's been a hot minute since my last post (apologies), but I'm back today with a little beauty post! Since diving into the online world, both as a consumer and a creator, my makeup collection his grown so much, to the point where I don't technically need any more products, but that's not going to stop me from collecting interesting palettes and trying new brands. I currently own 46 eye shadow palettes, ranging from a massive 120-pan palette to a simple eye shadow quad. For this post, I wanted to share my three go-to palettes (and brands if I'm being honest), which was kinda hard to narrow down since I dip in-and-out of a number of palettes. Nearly a year ago to the day, I posted a video over on my channel sharing my eye shadow palette collection, and oh boy has my collection grown since then (don't worry, I'm planning on making an updated video again soon). I've definitely found a few brands that I want to stick with, with a majority of my collection dedicated to two brands. In making this post, I didn't want to just focus on three palettes from one brand that are on my go-to list, because that's no fun. So I made sure that the three palettes I chose are three different brands since I do have several go-to palettes that I rotate between. Now, I will admit, these palettes are all very similar - like, no one really needs all three. But if you know me, you'll know that I LOVE brown and natural tones, so it's only natural that my go-to palettes are within that colour range. As much as I love colour, I really can't go past a nice brown eye. And when I'm overwhelmed with my palette choice, I know I can turn to any of these three palettes to create something simple or something bold - when all else fails, stick with what you can rely on! The first palette is from my first holy grail brand ColourPop, and let me tell you how hard it was to narrow this down to just one go-to palette, especially since I tend to dip into multiple palettes with any one look. But the palette that I do like to reach for as it's go all my favourite shades, is the Zoella x ColourPop Brunch Date palette. The is palette literally me in the palette! When Zoe announced this, I was already excited for the collaboration, but actually seeing the palette, I could see my name written all over it. It's got the perfect balance of matte and shimmer shades, with a pop of colour to play around with. On top of that, it's great for neutral everyday makeup, or for glaming up for something more fancy. The pop of matte blue and pink shimmer are super fun, and they've definitely made me experiment a little more with what you can do with brown tones to make a look fun and interesting. The pay-off of this palette (and really anything by ColourPop) is amazing, and their shimmers are stunning. I particularly LOVE the shade 'Sundae Funday', which is GORGEOUS. An Aussie brand that I rediscovered over the last twelve months is BYS Cosmetics. This is a brand that I used to use a little back in high school, and although I wasn't their biggest fan back in the day (the products I did use didn't wow me), I've picked up a couple of products over the last year and absolutely love them. They're a fantastic Australian brand, and the palette that has become a fast favourite is Safari. While very similar to a number of palettes I already own (and even similar to other BYS palettes), one of the things I love about this palette are the shimmers - the grungy gold and olive tones are gorgeous. It's so easy to create a really subtle neutral look, but then take it to the next level with the shimmers. Finally, we have my other holy grail brand Makeup Revolution. Like ColourPop, it was hard to choose which Revolution palette I like the most - all the ones I currently own (and I say currently because you can bet your behind that I'll be getting more soon), are really fun to play with, but at the end of the day, I can't go past the Iconic Pro 2 palette. Because browns, duh! I own both of the Iconic Pro palettes, which are both very similar (honestly, you wouldn't need both in your collection, unless you're a collector like me), but it's this one that i grab the most out of the two. And interestingly, it's a very good mix of the two palettes previously mentioned - a pop of blue like Brunch Date, and some grungy olive tones like Safari. I'm definitely a fan of the more grungy and cool-tone browns, and this palette has it all. For a simple, everyday bit of something on my lids, this one has definitely become my favourite. Are my palette choices boring? Well maybe, but don't worry, my collection does contain some colour for when I'm feeling reckless. At the end of the day, these are three of my go-to palettes when I want something simple, and even when I want something a little more glam.
Also, these are three of my favourite brands - I own so many awesome ColourPop and Revolution palettes that I love dipping into and playing with. And seriously, can both brands please stop with all the constant releases because I can't keep up! Plus, just to make these palettes even better - they're super affordable and really great quality! If you've been living under a rock and haven't tried these brands or palettes, you NEED to get on it ASAP! See You Soon! Victoria :) |
