Happy hump day fam! We are nearly two weeks into the new year and I don’t know how I feel about that… But I have at least made sure the year starts off on the right foot by doing a spot of baking! Well, not really baking, since this is a no-bake recipe, but you get the point. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this slice, and it’s taken a LOT of self-control to not eat the whole batch in one sitting. This No-Bake Honeycomb Slice is super easy to make, meaning anyone of any skill level can whip up this delectable treat, and it’s even one the kids could get involved with! And if you’re anything like me, you will probably have most of the ingredients already in the pantry, with just one or two that you’ll need to duck to the shops to get. So if you’re looking for something new to (not)bake and impress your friends and family with, look no further than this must-make slice! what you'll need:
how you'll make it: 1. Line the base and sides of a 2- x 2-cm slice tin with baking paper. 2. Crush the biscuits in a food processor, as fine as possible. Add in the crushed Violet Crumble bars, and stir together. 3. In a separate bowl or jug, melt the condensed milk and butter together, doing 30-second bursts in the microwave. It should take you about three turns, stirring between each stint in the microwave. 4. Stir the wet and dry ingredients together until combined and press the mixture into the prepared slice tin. Sit in the fridge for a moment. 5. In another jug, melt the chocolate and oil together in the microwave for 30 seconds. The oil will help make the chocolate melt quicker, so you shouldn’t need to return it to the microwave for a second time. 6. Pour the chocolate over the biscuit base and ensure it spreads to all edges and corners. Feel free to add sprinkles or crushed/grated chocolate to the top for extra pizazz or flavour. 7. Return to the fridge to set for 2-3 hours before cutting into slices. Store in the fridge. And there you have it, a super easy and delish slice that you can whip up in the morning and be snacking on in the afternoon! Plus, it’s really easy to switch up the flavour by changing the chocolate bar you use - switch out the Violet Crumbles for Peppermint Crisps if you’re a choc mint girlie like myself! If you try other flavours, let me know how it goes!
This year I want to try and post about one recipe a month, mainly just so I can enjoy eating ALL the food that I make, but also because I do love bringing these posts to the blog! If you have any suggestions for what you want to see, let me know in the comments, and be sure to check out my Food page to see all my previous recipes. Happy (No)Baking! Victoria :) |
