AUTHOR: Jana Aston GENRE: Romance PAGES: 95 pages RELEASED: 11 November 2021 SERIES: Reindeer Falls #5 SYNOPSIS: My name is Jake Sheppard and I’m ambivalent about Christmas and the Christmas-themed town I grew up in. But when I find out my late uncle left me an old barn and acres of land, the decision to return home to build my dream golf course is an easy one. Imagine my surprise when I arrive and find out I have a squatter. An incredibly sexy squatter, with wavy blonde hair, green eyes, a free spirit… and a herd of goats. Sutton hates my guts. Apparently evicting a non-paying non-tenant and her goats weeks before Christmas is grounds for war. Except Sutton's version of war includes flinging her clothing at me and, as it turns out, I might be in way over my head with this girl… You can never have just one night…
Welcome to Reindeer Falls, the most magical and festive town in America, where even the goats don bows for the occasion. But finding goats on his inherited farmland was the last thing Jake Sheppard expected upon arrival. Actually, the gorgeous owner of the goats, Sutton Stewart, was the last thing he expected. All he wanted to do was turn his uncle’s long-forgotten land into a golf course, but now he has a squatter, several goats, and a dilapidated barn to deal with. The chemistry between Jake and Sutton is undeniable, and when Sutton takes pity and allows Jake to share her Airstream with her, the pair agree to give into temptation for one night, and one night only. Except that one night turns into another, and then another, and then another. Soon, Jake is getting involved in all things goat farm, including goat soap making and goat carol singing. They seem to be the perfect partnership, both when it comes to the goats and their romance, but Sutton still sees that Jake has one foot out the door and his sights still set on his golf course. All she needs is the magic of Christmas to convince him to change his mind. As if Reindeer Falls couldn’t get anymore festive - there’s freaking goats wearing festive bows! And they sing Christmas carols! If only this town was real because I’d be living there in a heartbeat! And who could go past a bit of rivals to lovers and forced proximity! Sutton and Jake’s relationship was oozing with sexual tension and chemistry, both in and our of the Airstream. Throw in the goats, and they quickly became a weird yet adorable family before they both realised they were a family. Like the previous novellas, I do wish this story was a little longer and fleshed out, just to give these characters more of a chance to grow and shine. But in saying that, Sutton and Ryan’s story felt relatively complete despite the length - it just could have benefited from a deeper exploration of the characters and story. It definitely makes for a quick and easy read to cram into the end of the year though! Get ready to book a ticket to Reindeer Falls in order to hang out at the Reindeer Falls Goat Farm is this swoony festive romance! |
