Sweet and funny, and so hot it should be illegal—we shared one magical night. No names. No strings. I never thought I’d see him again. I was wrong. It turns out Mr. Perfect is the playboy grinder for the Jacksonville Rays, the NHL’s hottest new hockey team…and I’m his new physical therapist. Oh, and the jerk doesn’t even recognize me! This fellowship is going to be the longest ten months of my life. Mr. Perfect Mistake will do anything to get back on my good side. Meanwhile, his best friend is the surly new equipment manager always riding my case. Worst of all, I’ve got an uncooperative goalie who thinks I can’t tell he’s hiding an injury! This is my chance to prove myself, and I’m not risking it for anything. But with one unexpected night, one secret revealed, these men are ready to test all my limits. I can’t fall for a player…let alone three. But if love is a game, these guys are playing to win. Why have just one hockey player when you can have three..
Two months after the best one-night-stand of her life, Rachel Price is headed to Florida after being accepted for the Barkley Fellowship at the last minute. Having not chosen where she would be working, she’s excited by the prospect of working as a physical therapist for the newest NHL team, the Jacksonville Rays. The last thing she expected though was for one of the players, Jake Compton, to be the guy she hooked up with in Seattle. The pair are excited to have found one another again, but Rachel is determined not to let anything jeopardise her job with the Rays, especially since it could lead to a full-time position once her Fellowship is over. But Jake isn’t the only Ray that’s becoming a distraction for Rachel. Equipment manager Caleb Sanford, who just so happens to be Jake’s best friend and Rachel’s neighbor, has been tangled in Rachel’s drama since the moment he picked her up at the airport. And then there’s the very moody Finnish goalie Ilmari ‘Mars’ Kinnunen who’s determined to hide a potentiality serious injury from Rachel in case it jeopardises his Olympic chances. Getting involved with one hockey player would be trouble enough, but Rachel can’t help but getting involved with all three. At the same time. Together. Now, I knew this book was spicy, but I just didn’t realise how spicy it actually was - Emily did NOT hold back at all and it was *chefs kiss*. There’s a reason everyone is obsessed with this book and this series, and I can confidently say that the hype is 100% justified! Pucking Around is a chunky book but I absolutely flew through it because I could not get enough of the Price Family and the story that Emily has crafted. Rachel had such great chemistry with all three guys, and even though I didn’t totally vibe with Mars infiltrating the Rachel/Jake/Caleb dynamic, which made SO much sense, he definitely grew on me and I ended up loving the entire foursome. I adored the whole dynamic, as well as the individual pairings of Rachel/Jake, Rachel/Caleb, Caleb/Jake, and Rachel/Mars. I’ve not read too many why choose/polyamory/reverse harem stories, but I have always been intrigued by the trope. Emily has now made me a total convert and I need to read ALL the why choose books. Emily is really good with clearly outlining content warnings at the beginning of her books, as well as tags and tropes which is super helpful. This book contains detailed two-, three-, and four-person sex scenes that include elements of impact play, choking, voyeurism, bondage, double penetration, double vaginal penetration, toy use, degradation, dom/sub, spit play, snowballing, and breeding kink. There are also mentions of prior substance abuse, prior harassment, and prior vicious bullying linked to homophobia. Check Emily’s website for a full run-down of tags, tropes and content warning for Pucking Around and all her other books. This is one of those books where I just wanted to reread it the moment I finished! I’ve been holding off on continuing with Pucking Ever After, Volume One and Pucking Wild because I know I’ll devour them both in no time and I need to spread the Emily Rath goodness out a little more! If you’ve seen all the hype surrounding Pucking Around, this is your sign to actually buy into the hype and pick the book up - you will not be disappointed by this swoony and spicy hockey romance, and I guarantee you’ll fall in love with the Price Family. |
