AUTHOR: Pippa Grant GENRE: Contemporary Romance PAGES: 326 RELEASED: 29 June 2018 SERIES: Girl Band #3 SYNOPSIS: A Rock Star Kidnaps a Runaway Bride… Kidnapping the bride seemed like a good idea at the time. Her fiancé stole my fortune, so I stole his woman. Tit for tat. Or tat for tit. However you want to look at it The one thing I didn’t expect? Willow Honeycutt, preschool teacher, boy band super fan, is completely crazy. And somehow she’s turned the tables on me. Now, she’s holding me hostage, and she won’t let me go until we hit every item on her sparkly new, completely insane bucket list. And that last item? That last item might cost me more than any fortune. It very well might cost me my heart. I was kindly sent a copy of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own A kidnapping turned adventure in a quest to actually start living one’s life...
After all the planning, Willow’s big day is finally here and she’s absolutely dreading it. It’s the night before the wedding and she wishes she could be anywhere else, and her stepbrothers tell her that she should actually leave and not get married. After way too much mead, Willow finds herself, on her wedding day, on a boat bound for who-knows-where, handcuffed to the Dax Gallagher, singer of the boyband Half-Cocked Heroes, and in a kidnapping situation. Turns out, Willow’s now ex-fiancé stole Dax’s money and he’s on a mission to get in back. Even though she’s “kidnapped”, Willow is finally free and soon takes the reins and takes Dax on an adventure to cross things off her bucket list throughout Europe. She’s high on life and Dax can’t help but be intrigued by this woman who seems nothing like the woman her fiancé had talked about. Talk about a hilariously fun and ridiculous adventure! From a Scottish woman threatening to cut off Dax’s manhood, to a bus full of nuns, this book has some pretty crazy moments as Willow and Dax take the world, or Europe, by storm. It’s an adventure you can’t help but get swept up in, and the story honestly plays out like some ridiculous rom-com film. I’ll admit, it took me a while to get into this book since the pacing and location is a change from the previous two books, and we spend most of the book without seeing the rest of the characters we’ve met in the past, so it initially felt a little disconnected. But once we hit a bus load of nuns territory, I was thoroughly enjoying the story! Willow and Dax both had a lot of growing and soul-searching in this book, and it was great to see that evolution as the story progressed. We also got to dive more into Eloise’s character, which we’ll get to see more of in the final installment. This book was certainly an adventure, and while it was a bit of a slow start, it was a super enjoyable rom-com read with a nice serving of European roadtrip antics. |
