AUTHOR: Emma Hart GENRE: NA Romance PAGES: 168 RELEASED: 28 July 2020 SERIES: The Girl Next Door #1 SYNOPSIS: One accidental pregnancy. One fake husband. What can go wrong? There’s nothing like starting your Monday morning with a positive pregnancy test. Trust me, I know. Because I’m looking at one right now. All I can think is: Oh, hell. My grandmother is going to kill me. This might just send her to an early grave, so there’s only one option—pretending the father is my new husband. If only he’d agree to fake it. Kai Connors was supposed to be nothing more than a one-night stand. A long, dirty, one-night stand fueled by one too many tequila shots, where the only promise was to never speak of it again. But if my unfairly sexy next-door neighbor gets his way, this fake marriage could turn out to be very, very real… Sometimes you've just gotta fake it til you make it!
A few weeks after her one-night stand with neighbour Kai, Ivy discovers that she's pregnant and that her grandmother is going to kill her. Either that, or the news will kill her grandmother. Neither situation is ideal. After joking to Kai that they might have to pretend to be in a relationship, the joke becomes reality when Ivy panics while telling her family the exciting news. Now she's not only navigating morning sickness, but also trying to keep up the facade of being in a serious relationship with Kai, the news of which spreads like wildfire through their apartment building. It's an easy situation to fake, especially for Kai, but Ivy begins to worry if its just because she's pregnant and nothing more... The moment I finished the teaser prequel The One Night Stand Next Door, I knew I was going to LOVE following Ivy and Kai's story in this book! There's nothing like a surprise pregnancy and a fake relationship to let the sparks fly. Fake relationships are definitely one of my favourite romance tropes, so if you're like me, you'll certainly enjoy Ivy and Kai's story. The only downside was that the book just wasn't long enough! I know I say this all the time, but I just really wanted to spend more time with these characters and their relationship. What's super exciting is that this book introduces us to the characters Emma is following in her next three releases, the Bookworm's Guide trilogy! So not only will we get to see Ivy and Kai's story continue in the background of those books, we also get to see more of the side characters from this book, who were all really fun and interesting from the small pieces we got to see. If you STILL haven't read any of Emma's books, this is definitely a good one to start with! New adult romance fans are going to love following Ivy and Kai's story and will be hanging out to continue the fun with The Bookworm's Guide to Dating in October! |
