AUTHOR: Elle Kennedy GENRE: College Sports Romance PAGES: 296 pages RELEASED: 2 September 2020 SERIES: Off-Campus #4 SYNOPSIS: She’s good at achieving her goals… College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change. But the game just got a whole lot more complicated Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist. A one-night-stand can lead to forever…
With one more year of college and Harvard on the horizon, Sabrina’s dreams of getting out of her poor upbringing and shitty home life are closer than ever. But working two jobs and managing a law degree is really starting to take its toll and one night with an athlete is a sure-fire way to ease the tension. Hockey players are usually off her list, but it’s hard to resist John Tucker. There’s an instant spark between the duo and it’s not long before both want more than just one night. Sabrina’s crazy schedule means that she usually avoids dating, but Tucker is willing to be flexible and accommodating in order to make things work with the woman he can’t stop thinking about. As post-graduation plans are being made, one unexpected turn of events puts their relationship to the ultimate test as Tucker tries to convince the closed-off Sabrina that he’s in this for the long run, no matter what. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Elle continues to step things up with each return to the world of Briar U! After the teaser we got for Tucker’s story in the previous book, I knew this final instalment would be unmissable - Tucker has been such an interesting secondary character throughout his teammate’s books, and Elle definitely delivered a story worth waiting for. From the outset, Sabrina and Tucker had ALL the chemistry and sexual tension and I loved watching their relationship develop. It was equal parts heart and spice, and their individuals stories meshed together so well that I just could not get enough. Again, I’m struggling to choose which Off-Campus couple is my favourite because Elle has written them all SO well! The only thing I was disappointed about was not really getting to see any of the previous protagonists like we did in previous books. And while it makes sense for the timeline of the book - half of which overlaps with Dean’s story where it was already established that Tucker wasn’t hanging around with the guys as much - I still missed that dynamic and banter. All these characters have been so fun, and while I’ve adored each of the romances, I’ve also really enjoyed the friendship groups. This hockey team has been top-tier! I’m definitely bummed that we’ve come to the end of this series (although there is still one more epilogue instalment), but I’m glad Elle continued on in this world with the Briar U series - the little set-up and teaser we got for the first book has me SO keen for the next group of Briar U students! For all my fellow hockey romance girlies, this is definitely a book and series you need at the top of your TBR! |
