AUTHOR: Meghan Quinn GENRE: New Adult Sports Romance PAGES: 318 RELEASED: 17 June 2019 SYNOPSIS: Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room? If you haven't, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife. Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers. But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included. So when the girl I've fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it's time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room. The only question is, will she accept? Fun, flirty and just the right amount of hot baseball players who know literary references!
After ending a six-year relationship with the only guy she's ever been with, Emory packs up her Californian life to transfer to college in Chicago and reconnect with the high school friends she slowly abandoned. She's excited for the fresh start and being welcome back with open arms into her friend's life. She has no intention of getting involved with a guy. Until her campus map whacks star baseball player Knox Gentry right in the face while she's trying to find the class they just happen to share. Knox is instantly someone she connects with, not to mention being totally good looking, but her only goal is to keep her head down and study. Knox can't help but want to be around Emory - there's just something about her that he can't get enough of. Slowly, their friendship morphs into something more, but with Knox planning on entering the draft at the end of the year, their future could be over before they've had a chance to live it. I LOVED THIS BOOK! As you all know, I LOVE me a good sports romance, but, to make an appropriate baseball reference, this one knocked it out of the park! I was completely sucked into Emory and Knox's life and relationship, to the point where I truly experienced all the emotions (I cry in almost every book I read, but this one really hit me). It was just such a fun read and the relationship with cute and flirty and I couldn't get enough! This was the first of Meghan's books that I've read, so I didn't really know what to expect. Her writing style was just really great and I loved jumping between Emory and Knox's perspectives and getting inside their heads. The writing just really flows and is easy to read and just fall into, pulling you into this world. One thing I found really interesting was the time-jump near the end of the book - I was expecting it to happen in the epilogue, but actually really enjoyed jumping 8 years into the future and getting to spend a good amount of time with the characters and seeing where they're at with their lives. Give me more mid-book time jumps please! Definitely excited to continue this companion novel series, particularly the next book which follow Carson, who was a really fun side character in this book. All of the side characters were actually great characters and complimented our two leads really well - they were the friend groups that I just really wanted to be apart of! Drop everything and get your hands on this book RIGHT NOW! If you're a college and sports romance fan like me you will LOVE this book. This is 100% a book that I will add to my re-read rotation (very tempted to reread it right now...), and Meghan is an author I'm excited to explore more from. |
