AUTHOR: Rebecca Jenshak GENRE: NA Romance PAGES: 296 RELEASED: 29 March 2022 SERIES: Campus Wallflowers #1 SYNOPSIS: I have a type. I love the good guy. Responsible and stable. Safe. So when a beer-drinking, quick-witted, tattooed hockey player asks me to tutor him, I'm suddenly thrust into the world of bad boys and bad decisions. Jordan is a renowned player on campus. He doesn’t take anything seriously, except hockey and partying. But he gives me butterflies. I’m a wallflower tutoring Valley University’s hottest player. An opposites-attract college romance that will have you wanting to tutor one of the hottest hockey players on campus...
Living next to The White House – home of Valley U’s basketball team – Daisy has watched from afar as everyone drinks, parties and has a good time on a regular basis. As a shy wallflower, she’s only ever been on the outside, and although she doesn’t mind, she does wish that, just once, she was on the other side of the fence. The treehouse in her backyard is the perfect place to watch all the chaos, and to especially get a good look at her crush Liam, one of Valley U’s hockey players. He may be a jock, but he’s more reserved than his teammates and is actually a bit of a brain. So when her physics professor pairs her up with Liam and his teammate Jordan as lab partners, she can’t quite believe her luck at being so close to him after crushing over him from afar. Jordan can instantly see that both Liam and Daisy are attracted to one another, but with Liam already in a bit of rut at the start of the season, he doesn’t want him to have any distractions. So it isn’t long before Jordan asks Daisy to tutor him in physics and statistics, even though his grades aren’t really that bad. The more time they spend with one another, the more they become attracted to one another, and Daisy soon realises that she’s fallen for the wrong guy with a bad boy reputation... And we are back in the world of Valley U once again! This book gives me Smart Jocks vibes and I absolutely LOVED it as that was the series that started off this whole world and made Rebecca one of my all-time favourite romance authors. One of my favourite things about most of Rebecca’s books being set in the same world is how familiar they feel – it’s like returning home to people you’ve known for years, even though we’ve not really met any of these characters before. Both Liam and Jordan popped up in the Campus Nights books with the rest of the Hockey team, but we never really got to know them that well until now. As someone who is also shy and a bit of a wallflower, Daisy and her friends and super relatable, and I’m excited to explore Violet, Jane and Delilah’s stories in the upcoming books as well. They seem like such a great bunch of friends and housemates, and I’d 100% love to hang out with them! Despite reading the blurb before I started reading, I clearly didn’t pay attention to the fact that Jordan was the love interest and not Liam, because I was 100% expecting the story to follow Daisy and Liam until BAM, we had Jordan’s perspective. In saying that, I really adored following their relationship, particularly as Daisy came to realise that her crush on Liam from afar didn’t match her feelings as she got to know him. And while I was then therefore expecting Liam to be the love interest in a future book, I actually really enjoyed that Rebecca showed us his blossoming relationship too. Sports romances are some of my all-time faves, and the world of Valley U is one of my favourite worlds to dive into. If you’re a romance fan like myself, you NEED to make sure this book, and all of Rebecca’s Valley U books, are at the top of your TBR! The second book in the Campus Wallflowers series is coming in September, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up on all the drama and romance at Valley U! |
