Hiya Everyone! Okay, my calendar must be seriously wrong because it can't be almost September already, can it?? This year has gone super fast but also ridiculously slow - what even is time???? ANYWAY, we're nearing the end of Winter, and apart from being SUPER excited that Spring is almost upon on and that my birthday month is nearly here, it's time for my Winter favourites! Is it just me, or is this whole pandemic making it hard to find favourites? Like, I'm not really trying or doing anything new, and lots of the things I'm loving have been talked about before. But I digress - here's what I've been loving these past three months! I don't know about you, but natural deodorants seem to have been popping up in all my social feeds, so I just to finally give in a give one a try. I honestly didn't know where to begin until I stumbled upon one of my fave natural beauty brands having a natural deodorant! The Sukin Skincare Natural Deodorant caught my attention and I've really enjoying it! The original scent is subtle, and my cousin actually pointed out that it smells kinda like lemon cheesecake, so now that's all I can smell. The ocean mist scent naturally smells like the salty sea air, and being subtle scents mean they don't interfere with any perfume you choose to wear. I was a little worried that I'd zoom through a bottle in like a week, but a few little sprays really do go a long way! In all, it's a really great and affordable deodorant that is all natural to boot! I'm definitely keen to check out some more brands though, so let me know. While we're on the subject of natural beauty products, I picked up the Swisse Skincare Bamboo Skin Refining Exfoliator recently and it's been such a great addition to my skincare routine! I was kindly sent some samples of Swisse's masques, which I really enjoyed, so while perusing their entire skincare range I came across this little beauty as the products I was looking for were out of stock. It must have been a sign because my skin has been loving this! I use this a couple of times a week and it always leaves my skin feeling clean, smooth, hydrated and fresh, which is a pretty damn good combination if I do say so myself. The texture of the scrub itself is also really nice - I do tend to prefer one that I can actually feel working it's exfoliating magic, which this one does! If you've got combination skin like myself, this is a product to keep on your radar! A favourite that 100% should come as no surprise is Hamilton! The gods that are Lin Manuel Miranda and Disney+ graced us with the official slim tutorial at the beginning of July, and it certainly made 2020 a lot better. If you've followed me for a while know, you know I LOVE Hamilton and have been so excited to see the filmed version since it was announced. I also may or may not have experienced JGroff staring into my soul in a certain slim tutorial... several times... ANYWAY, I LOVED Hamilfilm, have watched it so many times since it's release, and constantly have the soundtrack stuck in my head, but I ain't mad! If you, for some crazy reason, haven't watched the film, DO IT NOW!! Also, guess who's seeing Hamilton in Sydney in May 2021! Living my best Hamilton life right here! I am EXTREMELY late to the anime scene, not that I've dived that deep into the genre, but still. Over the winter I've been diving into the wonderful works from Studio Ghibli and I have been LIVING for it! I've still got several films to go, but I've been thoroughly enjoying the films - I'm yet to watch one I didn't like, so I have high hopes that the rest will be just as good. I now totally get the hype surrounding Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, and once I finish my Studio Ghibli list, I'm definitely diving into more anime, so please suggest some in the comments! I'm also planning a blog post surrounding my favourite Ghibli films, so stay tuned - hopefully it'll be coming in late September! Yah girl has jumped on board The Bachelor train, and I ain't mad! Bachelor in Paradise graced our screens in July and I was living for the messy drama, both the onscreen and offscreen. If I hadn't watched The Bachelorette last year with Angie Kent, I definitely wouldn't have tuned in since a majority of islanders came from her season and I was excited to see more of them (*cough* Cirran *cough*). I'm now a Bachie convert because I'm currently watching the new season of The Bachelor with Locky Gilbert and loving it, especially the social media side of things - the Bachie Twitter community is a riot! Just like everything else this year, most Spring Agricultural Shows have had to cancel, including the local one that I'm heavily involved with. FORTUNATELY, we've got a pretty enthusiastic committee and have been able to turn our physical show into an Online Show! The big day itself is technically the coming Sunday, and this final week is when all the magic really happens, but the past six weeks has been all about planning and getting organised, and getting prepared for the hecticness that this week is going to be. Show time in honestly my FAVOURITE time of year, so I'm definitely missing it this year, but this online venture is helping fill the void and I'm really glad we've been able to pull it all together to give our community an Ag Show experience this year. Obviously we've only just reached Spring, but I've been Spring Cleaning already and it's been super refreshing! Rona itself has meant we've been cleaning and organising different areas of the house already, but it was about time I zeroed into my bedroom and the clutter that was just building it. The main area that I was keen to reorganise was my bookshelves, including unhauling a bunch of books I don't want anymore. And let me tell you, I cleaned away a lot of dust and got rid of a lot of books and other clutter that I just really don't need. It's such a nice thing to see everything you've thrown away or put aside to donate. Tidy room, tidy mind and all that jazz! So I've always liked One Direction, but I was never on the 1D stan train. And to be honest, I'm still not on the stan train, but because I'm friends with the biggest 1D stan ever, she's gradually influenced how my One Direction I listen to on any given week. After catching up with my friends at the beginning of July, just before the borders closed (thank god we got a catch-up in!), where we were blasting 1D and watching Larry videos, I've had One Direction on my playlist rotation ever since. It's to the point where I've had to make a 1D playlist on Spotify, aptly titled 'this is liv's fault'. Kind of a weird collection of favourites, but also not? I don't know. 2020 is a weird year in general and I've forgotten what normal is. Hopefully as things start to, fingers crossed, get back to normal, we can all find our groove again and I can be back with some new awesome favourites in November!
Hope you're all staying safe Victoria :) |
