AUTHOR: Willa Nash GENRE: Romance PAGES: 157 pages RELEASED: 4 November 2021 SERIES: Holiday Brothers #2 SYNOPSIS: I pride myself in being grounded. Sure, I’ve had my share of childhood fantasies. Winning an Oscar. Winning the lottery. Winning an Olympic medal for an athletic talent I have yet to discover. But the only fantasy I ever thought might actually happen was winning my brother’s best friend. Heath Holiday. My crush on him has ebbed and flowed over the years, but the day I started working for his construction company was the day I smothered it for good. Sort of. Mostly. It was on my to-do list. Making it a priority would have been easier had he not arrived at his family’s annual Christmas party looking ridiculously handsome in a suit. Then he kissed me. We stepped into an alternate universe and he kissed me. I assumed the next day I’d just be Guy’s little sister again. The office newbie. Our kiss forgotten. Except he keeps showing up at my house. With gifts. A gold bracelet carrying three jingling bells. Two dainty jeweled earrings, each shaped as a bow. And finally, he brought himself. One brother’s best friend, asking if I can keep a secret. When crushing on your brother’s best friend finally pays off fifteen years later…
Stella has been crushing on Heath Holiday for as long as she can remember. As best friends with her brother Guy, he’s always been in her life, and so the crush has remained in tact all these years. Ahead of joining the Holiday Homes team, Stella wants to finally shake her crush since she’ll be working alongside Heath. But it’s easier said than done, because Heath Holiday is earth-shatteringly gorgeous - how can a girl just shake a crush on someone like Heath. When Guy teases Stella about her high school crush, in front of Heath, she’s mortified. It turns out though that Heath has been crushing on Stella for a few years, but has been keeping his promise to Guy about not hooking up with his sister. Until now. Now that Heath knows that Stella had, and hopefully still has, a crush on him, he wants to shoot his shot, regardless of what it could do to his friendship with Guy. The moment we saw Heath and Stella together in The Naughty, The Nice and The Nanny, I just KNEW their book would be a good one. And Willa absolutely delivered everything I wanted and more with this best friend’s sister/brother’s best friend romance! And being set at Christmas was just the cherry on top. Heath and Stella were oozing chemistry which came from their history with one another, and you could instantly tell that they had been friends forever, but that they both had deeper underlying feelings for one another that they just hadn’t been able to bring themselves to act on until now. I always love the best friend’s sister/brother’s best friend trope, especially when they’ve both been pining for one another for years, and Heath and Stella had that in spades! Again, the entire Holiday family have such a fun vibe, and while this novella felt very complete, I definitely would have loved these books to have been longer, just to be able to spend more time with these characters! Willa’s writing style is just so fun and flows well, and she easily balances the banter, the swoon and the spice. And once again, the teaser for Tobias’ story has me super keen to dive headfirst into the final novella in this trilogy! This was another fun and festive romance read that is short enough to power through in the lead-up to Christmas and to cram in before the end of the year - if you’re looking to reach and smash that reading goal before the countdown to midnight, this is a good place to start! |
