AUTHOR: Rebecca Jenshak GENRE: NA Sports Romance PAGES: 214 RELEASED: 15 February 2021 SERIES: Moo U Hockey Collection SYNOPSIS: I’m banished to Vermont for a scandal that wasn’t my fault, and broke because my famous father cut me off. And did I mention my roommate stole my boyfriend? Yeah, I’m loving my Moo U experience. Now I need a job, because this gel manicure won’t upkeep itself. The only available option is the last one I’d ever want--a job as the hockey team’s equipment manager. My plan is to do the bare minimum, get paid, and find my way back into my father’s good graces. I will not get involved with a hockey player, no matter how hot. They’re cocky. And obnoxious. I know their type, and I’m not willing to risk getting hurt again. Until Lex Vonne glides into my life looking like sin on a stick. He thinks I’m a spoiled brat. I think he’s using me to get ahead. But the fire I feel when we’re together is like a slapshot to my heart… College? Check. Hockey? Check. A swoony hockey player? Check!
After being kicked out of her university back home, Kaitlyn has been banished to Moo U. She’s starting afresh, trying to prove to her father that she’s not the screw-up he thinks she is. When funds are low after her father cuts her off, she realises she needs a job, and the only one that sounds at all appealing is the equipment manager for the hockey team, and she hates hockey. Having grown up the daughter of a hockey player turned sports equipment brand owner, Kaitlyn has dealt with her fair share of guys only wanting to be with her to get close to her father. So when hockey player Lex starts taking an interest in her, her walls go up. But unlike every other guy before him, Lex truly wants to know about Kaitlyn, and he takes up the challenge to prove to her that she’s worth knowing in her own right, and that her famous sports star father means nothing to him. Is it safe to say that Rebecca is the queen of sports romances? Because I’m yet to meet a sports romance book of hers that I don’t like! I have no knowledge of Sarina Bowen’s The World of True North, so I don’t know how well this story fits within the world, but I really enjoyed Lex and Kaitlyn’s story, as well as getting a glimpse at the other hockey players set to feature in the rest of the Moo U books. I’m a sucker for a swoony and fun college sports romance, against a backdrop of a fun group of friends, and this book ticks all those boxes. It’s one of those books that just sucks you in and makes you feel part of the world as a fly on the wall. Although this is the only book Rebecca has written for the Moo U books, I’m really excited to dive into the rest of the series (and other series set in this world) and get a chance to read mostly new-to-me authors. If they’re anything like this book, I know for sure they’re going to be great reads! Get ready to cheer on Moo U in this super fun, sweet & swoony sports romance that’s packed with all the feels and a cast of characters you’ll be itching to learn more about! |
