Happy Thursday & Happy Spring! It’s officially my favourite season and my birthday month! And although I’m currently stuck in the regional NSW lockdown, I’m keeping things positive, like sharing everything I’ve been loving over the past three months. It’s another random collection of pieces, which seems to be how things are going thanks to the pandemic and being in and out of restrictions, but it’s a fun collection of favourites nonetheless. Ya’ll know I’m late to the party with a lot of things, and Among Us is one of those things... don’t hate me! When it was super hyped up last year, I just never felt the inclination to download it and play. So now when a lot of people have moved on from it, I’ve finally jumped on the bandwagon! And it’s been super fun, especially when you get to play with a fun group of people or during a Twitch stream. If you’re ever down for busting the lockdown boredom, hit me up and let’s be all sus in space and shit [come hang out in my discord server]. Now that books are part of this blog I can talk about them in my seasonal favourites! I’ve read a few books over the past three months, and you can find all the reviews in the ‘Books’ category. But the one I want to shine the spotlight on here is Meet Me In Bendigo by Eva Scott! This Australian contemporary romance is You’ve Got Mail meets regional Victoria and it was such a fun read. Check out my review for a longer synopsis and review, but in short – if you’re a contemporary romance fan, love Aussie reads or want to read more books by Australian authors and set in Australia, this is one to check out! Diary Milk Marble Chocolate is probably my all-time favourite chocolate, and I’m so glad they brought it back because I don’t know how I managed to survive up until that point. I didn’t think they could make Marble Chocolate better, or at least change the flavour profile a little to match quality of the original. But Cadbury did it with the Caramilk Marble Chocolate. I am one of those who LOVE Caramilk, so pairing it with my favourite chocolate was a very welcome decision. Chocolate has been getting me through the Winter and Lockdown blues, and I’ve definitely eaten way too much of this geniusly delicious creation. I’m pretty sure I include this in every second favourite post, but I’ve been going nuts with Spring Cleaning over the Winter. Due to my Nan and Pop both being in a nursing home now, my family and I have slowly been going through their house, organising, tidying up and diving things amongst ourselves. So because I’ve been bringing stuff home, with more still to come once we’re out of lockdown, I’ve had to tidy, reorganise, and chuck out a lot of stuff – literally so surprised by how much I’ve actually thrown away, but also now feeling very free. Although, I have no doubt I’ll be doing another substantial spring clean in Spring... My most anticipated film finally dropped this year, and I was SO excited to finally watch it in all its musical glory! Of course, I’m referring to the Lin Manuel Miranda masterpiece that is In The Heights, which was originally due to be released last October, but due to the pandemic, was pushed back to June. I’ve been hanging out for this film for what feels like forever, but thankfully it exceeded all my expectations, so the wait was certainly worth it! This favourite also applies to music as well as I’ve had several songs from the soundtrack on repeat since first watching the film – my top two favourites are definitely ’96,000’ and ‘In The Heights’. Lin and everyone involved did an amazing job adapting Broadway for the big screen. If you’ve been living under a rock these past few months, go watch this film ASAP! I’ve been on a big of an Aussie TV binge recently, and while some of those shows will probably be featured in my Spring favourites, the one I’ve been consuming the most has been music quiz show Spicks & Specks. I used to watch the series back during its original run between 2005 and 2011, and have loved tuning into the specials aired in the years since. Earlier this year, the show returned for a new season, but I didn’t end up finishing all the episodes when they aired. But, I recently caught up and loved every second of it, and went on the hunt for more episodes (thank you YouTube!). It’s just such a fun and easy watch and has been super enjoyable this last month in particular during lockdown. I’m hoping that there’s more specials and episodes in the works because the new stuff has been SO fun to watch! What have you been loving recently? And pandemic aside, how has the Winter (or Summer for my Northern Hemisphere friends) been for you? Let’s catch up in the comments!
This month I’m participating in Liptember, so if you want to get involved and support an important cause – Women’s Mental Health – then I’d be super grateful. Check out my donation page. Happy Springing (or Falling)! Victoria :) |
