AUTHOR: Rachel Lacey GENRE: Queer Romance PAGES: 331 pages RELEASED: 1 December 2021 SERIES: Ms. Right #1 SYNOPSIS: Books are Rosie Taft’s life. And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet. She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author? Jane Breslin works hard to keep her professional and personal lives neatly separated. By day, she works for the family property development business. By night, she puts her steamier side on paper under her pen name: Brie. Jane hasn’t had much luck with her own love life, but her online connection with a loyal reader makes Jane wonder if she could be the one. When Rosie learns that her bookstore’s lease has been terminated by Jane’s family’s business, romance moves to the back burner. Even though they’re at odds, there’s no denying the sparks that fly every time they’re together. When their online identities are revealed, will Jane be able to write her way to a happy ending, or is Rosie’s heart a closed book? Happy hump day fam! We are nearly two weeks into the new year and I don’t know how I feel about that… But I have at least made sure the year starts off on the right foot by doing a spot of baking! Well, not really baking, since this is a no-bake recipe, but you get the point. I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this slice, and it’s taken a LOT of self-control to not eat the whole batch in one sitting. This No-Bake Honeycomb Slice is super easy to make, meaning anyone of any skill level can whip up this delectable treat, and it’s even one the kids could get involved with! And if you’re anything like me, you will probably have most of the ingredients already in the pantry, with just one or two that you’ll need to duck to the shops to get. So if you’re looking for something new to (not)bake and impress your friends and family with, look no further than this must-make slice! AUTHOR: Robert F. Kennedy GENRE: Non-Fiction PAGES: 185 pages RELEASED: 1 January 1969 SYNOPSIS: During the thirteen days in October 1962 when the United States confronted the Soviet Union over its installation of missiles in Cuba, few people shared the behind-the-scenes story as it is told here by the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy. In this unique account, he describes each of the participants during the sometimes hour-to-hour negotiations, with particular attention to the actions and views of his brother, President John F. Kennedy. In a new foreword, the distinguished historian and Kennedy adviser Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., discusses the book's enduring importance and the significance of new information about the crisis that has come to light, especially from the Soviet Union. All opinions are my own. Happy New Year Booklovers! 2023 has come to an end which means it’s time to share ALL the year-in-reviews and wrap-ups - we’ve had Spotify Wrapped, My Year On YouTube, and Twitch Recap, but I’ve saved the best until last. That’s right, it’s time for my 2023 reading wrap up with the help of Perpetual Page Turner’s ‘End Of Year Book Survey’! I’ve been doing this survey every year since I started blogging, and I love taking a look back at everything I’ve read over the last twelve months, seeing the statistics, and seeing how I reflect on those books now. If you haven’t checked out Jamie’s blog, make sure you do because she shares so much fabulous bookish content! After a couple of hit and miss years, I’m excited to say that I DID complete my reading goal, and actually stayed on track the entire year - here’s hoping that I can absolutely smash my goal in 2024, but before we jump ahead a whole year, let’s wrap up 2023! I’d kill to be sitting beside a fireplace, drinking cocoa, wearing flannel pajamas and reading a book. Instead, I’m here, standing in front of my one-night stand’s house, working up the courage to ring the doorbell and tell him I’m pregnant. I hate that term—one-night stand. It sounds so cheap and sleezy. Tobias Holiday is neither of those things. He’s handsome and caring. Witty and charismatic. And once, a long time ago, he was mine. Our one-night reunion was only supposed to be a hookup. A fling with an old lover. A parting farewell before I moved to London and put my feelings for him an ocean away. How exactly am I supposed to explain that to Tobias that I’m having a baby? His baby? Maybe I could sing it. He always loved the silly songs I made up in the shower. Three French hens, two turtle doves. And a partridge and a pregnancy.
